life after a fight outside a mcdonald's may have been the one who started that fight. 33-year-old pat casey died after four days in a coma. police say the afghanistan war vet was disturbing customers at the mcdonald's and even blocked people from leaving. they believe he may have been drinking. >> the initial push came from, we believe it was mr. casey. it may have been someone that was with him. we are ironing that out. but that was the initial push that put a subject down on the ground. >> now captain michael says someone from that group pushed or punched back. casey fell, hit his head, he suffered a severe brain injury and he died on tuesday. his parents told a far different story. >>> an unusual sentence was handed down in a montgomery county hate crime case today. it is not the prison time that got our attention. everybody on this case expected the suspect, steven armstrong would be sent to prison. but as scott broom tells us, nobody expected the judge to ban him from returning to his own home once he gets out. >> i'm scott broom in wheaten where a neighbor was sent away to prison toda

pennsylvania democratic senator bob casey chairman of the joint economic committee joins us us right now. paty is in the supercommittee. how hopeful are you that we're going to have a real statement of action by congress on this supercommittee on cutting debt over time? >> i'm reasonably confident. maybe if only because we have to do it. we've got to continue to have a plan to cut spendsing and reduce deficit and debt. at the same time almost on a parallel track we've got to be focused on job creation. that's essential. we've got to have a bipartisan agreement on both. but i think we can get there. >> let's talk about what everybody's talking about the 9.1% unemployment rate. the drop in the stock market again today because of that and the president's speech on thursday. what would be to you a concrete proposal by the president? >> well i know he's got a couple that he'll likely propose. he's talked about them politicsly and maybe there's some -- publicly and maybe there's others as well. certainly a payroll tax cut. i would favor that. i would hope that he'd adopt some of my ideas that would
