the independent greg orman is still leading pat robertson you can see there the breakdown. the other place this ad is hitting shard kentucky with the senate minority leader mitc mcconnell running as you can see in the average of polls about 4 points up. we're back with the panel. okay, a.b., you look at that gallup poll, what message does that send to you? >> it's not going to be like 2010 because all those seats are won by republicans there are not that many win again. if you look at the senate which is where they pick up the majority again. all year and particularly through the summer senate democrats represent states where mitt romney easily won in 2012 against president obama, those candidates held leads through the summer which was pretty significant. all of the durability of those leads is disappearing and the republican candidates, the challengers are now taking a good solid lead. that's a very bad i sign because what it says when president obama when those very red states points less pop laffer than he was when he was reelectside that democrats are not going to get

there is no question about it. >> host: last week the pat robertson campaign bringing in the big guns, bringing in mitt romney -- who else has come in to campaign for the senator? >> guest: at this point about half the senate has been here to campaign for pat roberts. he said john mccain here, rand paul, ted cruz, just one senator after another. ted coburn from oklahoma has been here for him. today, as you just mentioned, mitt romney will be here in a kansas city area suburb just on the kansas side. and i think he will draw a pretty good crowd. mitt romney obviously still a big name in american politics and that's why roberts is bringing him out here. so it will be fun to see what happens. >> host: what has to get out the vote effort and mike for the roberts campaign and the orman campaign? he is an independent, so who does he rely on if the democratic party isn't there for him necessarily? >> guest: that is one of the big questions that surround this campaign as we we headed down toward election day, who does greg orman count on to get the vote out. he doesn't have very much of a get

and pat robertson and the republicans have been slowly chipping away at that support over the last couple and outside money in particular has a ton to do with this. we've just passed the $10 million mark just in outside money being spent in this race. it's already the most expensive senate race in kansas history. and we've still got nine days to go and a lot of advertisements still to air. >> and a lot that can happen in those nine days. as you and i both know. as much -- much have been made over kansas governor economic policies and how it's hurt the economy in kansas. is senator roberts paying for that? are there other issues here that we need to factor in? >> those aren't pat roberts' biggest problems. it's interesting, you have two republicans here running on opposite messages. isn't everything in kansas going great, trying to get reelected on a really positive message about how things are going well in kansas is what he's saying. and pat roberts is warning if they remain in control of the senate and the white house, it's going to be the end of the world. he's running a much different

in kansas the polling is starting to break their way against the republican pat robertson. kansas senator jerry moran, thank you for your time today and good morning. you believe roberts pulls out this race but how does he do it? >> i believe senator roberts pulls out this race. the polling information we have seen under estimates republicans, generally democrat leaning poll but that's somewhat irrelevant. kansas has not elected a democrat to the u.s. senate since 1932. it's a traditional republican, conservative state and disinclined to be supportive of president obama and his policies, and dissatisfied with the majority leader harry reid and the senate democrats. so once it becomes clear that greg orman is not an independent -- independent -- that word sounds appealing to people. we want people to be independent. greg orman was a candidate against senator rob earth in 2008, ran as a democrat. he's contributor to president obama's campaign. harry reid's campaign. he indicated his support for obamacare and gun control and giving the president greater leeway in terms of judi
