superintendent pat skorkowsky joined teachers, administrators and those who have been helped by the united way to kick off ccsd's annual campaign for the nonprofit. the event took place at the northwest career and technical academy this morning. it's all part of a fundraising effort - to help students and families succeed. "we really focus on health, education and financial stability because if families and children don't have all three of those, then one of the others is going to fall down, right?" "we listen to what their needs are and then we go otut into the community and raise funds through all kinds of corporations and other nonprofits and we try to pull them together." the united way has given back more than three million dollars - through the campaign over the years. people hit the streets of the valley to count the number of homeless. this was the annual homeless count done by volunteers. the information gathered will help teh county apply for grants. last year alone, clark county received around 12-million dollars to be used to help reduce the number of homeless in the valley. da
