abc 7 news meteorologist sandhya patel joins us. july, right? >> it is indeed. people are questioning whether or not it's supposed to feel like this. it's not. normally i'm tracking the heat. not right now. i'm tracking thunderstorms and showers. let me show you doppler hd. it's a very quiet picture but earlier tonight we had strong thunderstorms over the lake county area. roger kay, who lives up there had posted on my facebook and he said that they had received about an inch of rain 99/100 to be precise, power outages and flooding. accidents were too numerous to keep track of and indeed there was probd up there. there was debris flow in that area as well with mud and rock slides reported by the chp. that's the same area that's going to lock at thunderstorms again tomorrow. the sierra nevada all lit up on live doppler 7 hd earlier tonight as those thunderstorms fired up. and as i take you in a little bit closer we just showed you the pictures there. tioga pass. yes, earlier this evening did see some snow. was mixed precip. numerous reports of hail in the tahoe a

turning to our meteorologist sandhya patel. >> the slope from the fire is drifting as i look to the north toward the bay. let me show you the current conditions near the fire. it is getting hotter in the last hour, 98 degrees. relative humidity is running low, 10%. wind out of the southwest. it has switched direction gusting to 15 miles an hour. that intensity of the fire is showing up on the live doppler 7 hd, as you noticed. we have records to talk about. 98 degrees is the tie for the previous record. downtown oakland broke their previous record. antioch 106 103 in livermore, 101 in fairfield and concord. 80 degrees in san francisco. so far, the high in santa rosa 98. 93 in san jose. i'll let you know how long the heat is going to stick around. >> thank you very much. we captured this thick black smoke pouring from an industrial fire in vacaville. it started in their back lot. police asked people to evacuate the building. no word on how it started or where. >>> a drone got in the way of a brush fire in dublin. it burned near the camp parks army base and the jail. abc 7s reporter melanie

hannel patel was 22 years old. she and another emt were headed to the scene of an accident in east brunswick when a car crashed into their ambulance. the ambulance had its emergency lights and sirens on. patel died on what was supposed to be her last day on the job before starting medical school. >> we're really heartbroken right now. words can't describe how everybody, my employees and myself are feeling. >> both the surviving emt and the driver of the car are being treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. >>> a fire at the cosmopolitan hotel yesterday destroyed calm trees and the pool. investigators trying to figure out what sparked that fire. >>> in bowling green, kentucky seven people were hurt when an amusement park ride tipped over yesterday. the swing ride suspends people in the air as it spins around. most of the injured victims were taken to the hospital in private vehicles. so far no word on their conditions. park officials are investigating the accident. >>> still ahead, another day and
