patrick fock has more from john king city. all of the last couple of weeks chunks. you really has been suffering under this intense heat wave which has caused bush fires. it's cause power outages, crops and livestock have really been struggling as well. so this really is a dramatic change in weather conditions. temperatures have gone from daily highs about 40 degrees celsius, right? down to the mid twenties and there's also been this rain for which began on sunday and is still ongoing. and as you can see, it's really helped to replenish the yangtze river right behind me. just a few days ago, parts of this river had dried up. so much you could walk half way across it, but the concern now for a thought is, is the threat of possible flooding. one of the things the heat wave did, is it really bates the soil around this region and has caused it to crack and loosen and that increases the possibility of natural disasters. so authorities have issued a flood alert warning. they've evacuated more than 100000 people to safe grounds and rain is expected to persist in some parts
