. -- cnn's patrick oppmann is our man in havana. >> we are at a solitary reality that the government is holding to show support for palestinians and to criticize israel's war on hamas. there are hundreds of people here, many of them school aged children who've come directly from class. palestinians,, some of them are medical students who are studying to become doctors when the war broke out. cuba's position on this latest conflict is unequivocal. cuba for years are supported palestinians right to form a state and the cuban government does not have diplomatic relations with israel. cuba blames the u.s. and israel for this latest outbreak of violence. cubans state run media have paid little attention to what hamas has done to civilians in the attack on israel. the cuban government released with statement at the beginning of the conflict saying that there should be an immediate cease fire, but over the past several days, as casualties mounted, the cuban government has taken a harder position. on monday, the cuban president posted on the social media that what israel is doing in the gaza
