this is what democrats and republicans agreed to in the summer when paul ryan and patty murray struck a deal. host: biggest hit in terms of the budget? guest: there is a decrease in the defense budget but the defense budget is half of discretionary spending in this country. a lot of the spending in the government is on the mandatory side of the ledger and that includes security, medicare/medicaid but this is the discretionary agency budgets of there is a decrease for defense of about $30 billion compared to what they had been seeking. another big decrease of about $8 billion comes from the labor hs budget, the departments of labor and health and human services which administers obamacare and the department of education. that sees a decrease but that is a sizable oil compared to some of the smaller ones like the agriculture bill. this past quickly in the house and in the senate.
