((denise valdez)) this comes just days after the public would not reconsider implementing new rates on solar customers. hall with details on the plan. ((patrick walker)) mayor pro today... that this is a response to the public utilities commission approving a rate hike for solar customers. ross is sponsoring a city ordinace that would allow people solar... up-front costs. the city of las vegas would district... which allows homeowners who install solar -- to opt in to pay a special assessment fee on top of their taxes every six months. private investment would carry the burden of the up-front cost to install the panels on a home or business. then... the assessment fee would pay off more than 5- thousand homes have installed solar panels since 2009 in the city of las vegas. the city has to do something... ross says... because those residents are quote "feeling betrayed" by the new rates.
