[applause] >> not ed lee. but i play him from time to time. the mayor wanted me to appear today and he wanted me to welcome all of you to discuss these very important issues. obviously, with the amount of influence and impact that nightlife has on san francisco, that is obviously very important to the city, and to the mayor directly. it is so closely tied to what makes san francisco such a beautiful city, and so closely site -- tied to what makes san francisco -- what makes people want to come to san francisco and live in this city. it is important to what we do and many of the businesses that exist here on an ongoing basis. we have 16 million visitors a year. that is in no small part due to the activities associated with the night life and this city. that is not lost on all of us. one of the things that i think it's important to the mayor and myself as i sit here today, and i know that you guys are going to be focusing on, i looked out and i see so many pieces of the city family here engaged in this conversat

information is contained on there, let me turn it over to the mayor's director of public safety, paul anderson. >> mr. anderson, welcome. >> good to see you again. with that introduction we have a little slide show here with the information. basically here is our strategy and all of these things are kind of interrelated so they all fold into each other, but interrupt, predict and organize are basically how we have structured what this new approach is. that's kind of the innovative aspect of it. basically it's broken down like this. the interrupt like this is interrupting the violence through enforcement. the predictive component is predictive policing for more effective prevention strategy and the organizing, social service agencies, enforcement agencies, faith based organizations, business to work collaborative kind of the thing you see in the community and on the streets. so it's kind of a new partnership that we've built and that's that innovative component that we put into the strategy. i'm going to just talk a little bit about both myself and deanna, who is going to get up in a moment and

anderson? >> despite what the prime minister has said -- the diseases of rickets and tuberculosis -- food banks are increasing. kids are going to school hungry. we have a stagnant economy. does the paul -- prime minister acknowledge his policies have taken the country back to the 1930's? >> i would hope the honorable gentleman would be celebrating the fact that nissan has announced another 125 million pounds of investment into our country. one of the biggest and most successful car plants anywhere but the fact is we have over 1 million private-sector jobs last year and this year. some of the fastest rates of newthat is what is happening. yes there are tough times and tough choices, but our economy is rebalancing and we should recognize that. >> in march we introduced a new local green space designation to protect green spaces, not just for landscape painters but for suburban communities in my constituency. can the prime minister reassure should use this new designation and that it has not been undermined by any recent pronouncements? >> i would reassure my friend that the national planning policy framework was 1000 pages long, now just 50 pages long -- that is our planning framework.
