first alerted meteorologist paul hagan is tracking the temperatures for us. paul? >> low temperatures tuesday running around 10 degrees below average, which is cold, near or even below freezing for inlet parts of the bay area, but this is the kind of cold snap that we get two or three times every winter. the 30 degree low temperature in santa rosa, yes, 2 degrees below freezing, but, it would not even be in the top 50 coldest mornings in santa rosa in the last five years. this is something that happens on a regular basis. it is late january, it is a cold time of year, and we will be safely above record territory to begin the day tomorrow but the closest we will be is in seven cisco, just below 40 degrees but the record is 37. some of those record low temperatures are really frigid. low 20s in santa rosa and livermore within the realm of possibility this time of year, but we will not be that cold tomorrow morning, just throw another bucket on the bed. make sure that if you have other animals they have a warm place to snuggle up for the night, and make those outdoor

the santa cruz county -- >>> with our first alert meteorologist paul hagan on what is to come. >> more rain. it is only a few hours away. with take a look at what is happening on first alert doppler right now but we are still in a break from rainfall at the moment. a little bit of drizzle, that is not enough to cause problems but what we will see is a lot of rain moving in through the west after midnight, tonight, likely hitting the coast around 2:00 a.m. then making its way further inland. the fast progression limits the amount of time that the heavy rain will be falling through saturated soils. the ground is so wet, that even a 20 minute downpour is enough to cause localized flooding. this will push further north by 4:00 in the morning, but more showers and even thunderstorms taking shape in continuing to move in off and on. it's not often that you see this weather is for the bay area, but portions are under risk of severe thunderstorms. not just waiting and thunder but the possibility that stronger storms will produce damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 miles per hour. we have anoth
