chief meteorologist paul heggen is here. how much rain did we get? >> not enough to register officially as a trace of rainfall. so just enough to maybe briefly wet down the road, the back enough, enough to deposit another layer of dirt on a parked car outside, but that's been it. that monsoonal moisture continues to move through. there is a possibility of a shower popping up across this week but they are very few and far between. some of the moisture -- this is actually from this, the remnants of a tropical moisture system. this was hurricane frank. some of that moisture has made it up towards us. it's part of why we are seeing the pop-up showers. also part of why it feels kind of muggy outside. dew points have been running in the mid-to-upper 50s. some spots a little bit drier but palo alto register at or above 60 degrees. that's the point around the bay area where it feels actually muggy outside. noticeable levels of humidity will continue for most of the bay area the rest of the week and maybe even into the weekend. i think we will see some decrea

paul heggen joins us live. now another concern with the heat and smoke. >> and now a concern about dry lightning. with any thunderstorms that could get going late tonight and tomorrowe storm chance is just at 20%. the 20%. the time frame will be before sunrise moving into the a clara valley. the threat should be winding down mid afternoon. t is a low potential overall. a 20% storm chance means there is an 80% chance nothing happens. t if the storm could get going, it's a low potential for cloud to ground lightning and gusty winds that the storms would produce significant concern with with the consequences of that. t would significantly boost the threat of any new fires getting going. especially in elevations above 2,000 feet where the fire fuels are so dry. we will talk more about the dry lightning threat in the full forecast. tes will not be as ridiculously hot for inland parts of the bay area. still in the 90s but i think even the hottest spots will stay just below 100 degrees. we'll take a look at the full f

let's bring in meteorologist paul heggen to talk about the weather conditions in that area. >> and fortunately, they could be a whole lot worse. the weather, it's not going hinder the fire crews as they try to stop the forward progress of the fire. we'll look to the southeast of downtown martinez. the temperature stands in the low 80s. the humidity is over 30%. that could be a whole lot lower. the winds light, sustained at only 2 miles per hour. gusting up to only 10 miles per ho that sustained wind direction has been consistent. that's good news for the fire crews. they can predict the direction that the fire is going to grow. and the current view of it right now from one of the alert cameras shows a lot less smoke to when we were first seeing the smoke on the horizon about an hour ago. hopefully that's a good sign. they're going to stop forward progress and keep this from impacting anyone. no evacuations in place at the moment, and we're going to keep an eye on the latest conditions. >> and paul, let's get another check from chopper 5. as you mentioned, not as much smoke as you were seeing a
