paul henderson, thanks so much.it's been bizarre and complicated case that dates back more than 30 years. francis rivera with the detailed history and it's a wild one. >> you consider that alone as far as the background of his family, that adds to it. the durst family is considered one of the top five real estate holders in new york city including running one world trade center. we gathered a time line of key events that you need to know. it goes back to 1982. that's when durst's wife first disappeared. never been charged in that disappearance. now, 18 years later to 2000 a district attorney in west chester county new york reopens the investigation of the disappearance and september of 2000 in los angeles, 55-year-old susan berman is shot once in the back of the head at her home execution style. investigators had wanted to interview her about kathleen's disappearance. she was a friend. now to october of 2001 he had been disguising himself as a mute woman. charged with the murder and dismemberment of his 71-year-old
