joining me now, the veteran prosecutor, paul henderson.little more interesting, or a tougher call as you zoom in. if you start out far away, you go, if a lot of women accuse bill cosby of bad things, shouldn't they all be heard? >> it is a little more complicated because as you can imagine, evidence like that and testimony like that is prejudicial. so much so that the judge has to evaluate and weigh whether or not the prejudice is balanced against showing the modus operandi or the pattern and practice of this specific defendant, bill cosby, in terms of what he's done in the past. keep in mind there is one person on the stand. or one victim that has charged in this case. so these 13 other previous victims are not individuals that are associated with the charges that are currently penaltying against bill cosby. this is what prosecutors are saying. they are saying they need on show this pattern and practice as a behavior instinct that he was engaged in to add credibility to the one victim that is on the stage here. >> right. which is tricky.

. >>> joining me now is legal analyst and veteran prosecutor paul henderson. eputy chief of staff in san francisco's public safety office. paul, it's good to have you with us. and the roof murder trial is really coming at an emotional time for folks within charleston, south carolina. this is where a mistrial was declared in the trial of a former cop, michael slager, charged in the death of keith lamont scott. we have the judge rejecting a request for a delay for roof's defense team. but is there a valid point that maybe there needs to be time between slager and roof's trial? >> i don't think so, and i think the judge made the correct ruling, but i do think that it raises a couple of interesting issues in terms of is there a difference in state courts and in federal courts when we're trying issues that relate to race in this country. especially now while we're having a transition at the federal level in terms of our leadership. is that going to make a difference as we're dealing with these complicated issues? as we know, the country will have some executive infl

and paul henderson with legal analyst.u in today's dramatic parts of the ial. >> reporter: ari, just the statements that were shown in this video were so tough to hear, even for us. it's unimaginable what it was like for victims' family members and the jurors, as well. some of the phrases that jumped out, that admission that you referenced. he again said, "i killed them" and he chuckled when he said that. and also just the fact that he was very animated in this video with his hands. he spoke for two hours to fbi agents in this north carolina police station. remember, he was arrested in charlotte, north carolina. and he also expressed his views on race, which really stood out to me. he called himself a white supremacist. he said that, you know, there wasn't enough being done to stand up for white people. not only in america, but also in europe. he even referenced president obama and i want to go back to his exact quote. he said. yeah, no more black presidents. that's for sure. we already are the second class citizens. that

henderson. nice to see you, my friend. let's begin with -- listen, we heard from the top republican senator. he declined to comment specifically, though, on donald trump. what about speaker ryan? >> paul ryan came out two hours ago with a statement. he has called any interference we russia into this american election unacceptable, problematic because russia, as he said, has been an aggressor. he also cautioned against seeing this through a partisan light. essentially saying any attempt to view this election as illegitimate was not in keeping with what he wanted to see out of any of the conversations around. this. certainly if donald trump thought folks on the hill, whether it be mcconnell or paul ryan, would follow him, you know, in terms of questioning the cia, that hasn't happened. it seems like we've got people at the top ranks of the republican party, both on the senate side and the house side, willing to look into this and follow through with investigations. that's certainly something paul ryan has said in terms of the investigations committee on the hill that he is encouraging their work into cyber threats more generally. >> what about just quickly, we heard clinton campaign cha
