so this is a big deal. >> woodruff: paul howard, how do you see that? do you see the difference this is going to make for those individuals with disabilities or low incomes? >> well, obviously it's a challenge. you know, nationally the congressional budget office pointed out most of the people who are going to be affected by the enrollment under the affordable care act are young and healthy. so the sliver of patients that have chronic diseases or chronic illnesses you want to reach out to, it's a small portion of people that will get expanded coverage. i caution just a little bit. medicaid faces challenges in many states because it has low reimbursement for primary care physician enrollment so medicaid patients have good coverage on paper, they're going to have challenges reaching specialists and getting care for complex conditions. so that's a bit of a mixed bag here. it looks terrific on paper, good coverage on paper, the more complex problems, the people who should be most concerned about will have the most trouble getting high quality care. >> woodr

you have a weird unity between the rand pauls and howard deans who both, you know -- and i called it a liger last week, which is to say you don't see that beast very often that has the head of rand paul and the tail of howard dean, but this could be something that the outer elements of each party agree on. >> i think there's one thing that you are talking about, andrew, that i think is an important point that helps us thread the needle of why it is that while the vast majority of americans would prefer to be doing anything possible to increase the number of jobs and the take-home pay, washington is obsessed with the deficit, and that is that the business elite, a, they're not experiencing unemployment. they're not experiencing declining incomes. they're not having a hard time sending their kids to college or paying for child care. it's very difficult for them to actually see that something like, a, deficit reduction plan is better -- is in the worst interest of the country than something that they are pushing, which is obviously going to be deficit reduction as opposed to job creation

howard taft were wrestlers. one of our colleagues, the beloved, my friend, paul wellstone of minnesota was inducted in the national wrestling hall of fame in 2000. he said twet wrestling has always been a big thing for me. he said i've had a love affair with the sport most of ply my life. i got in some trouble, up found a sport i was good at and that transferred to better things in other areas in my life. the same is true for some 11,000 high school wrestlers and students at four universities with 17 n caa wrestling programs in my state. to high school meets like the renowned j.c. gorman invitational in mansfield to the ncaa tournament, sciewnts in ohio have egg learned the strength and discipline and focus that that allows grapplers to succeed. wrestling is accessible for working class athletes unlike some of the sports protected in the i.o.c.'s decision. it has a proud tradition in our state and in the united states and has a proud tradition around the world. the i.o.c. should not ratify this preliminary decision by its executive board, should continue its efforts to remain relevant for all athletes and communit

paul ryan's not going to. >> gentlemen, let's talk about chuck hagel. i was surprised at how republicans threw another republican under the bus today, especially the exchange between mccain and chuck hagel. howardat did you think of that? >> well, i think there's a lot of republican resentment about hagel. and i will say this. i think the administration, if they want to protect chuck hagel, they'd better come out and do it right away. i think he had a pretty rough time. unfairly so in many respects. he's talking about a new world that we know exists. you can beat up on chuck hagel all you want. i think the basic propositions that hagel is putting forth are probably pretty unassailable. but hagel himself was on the defensive a lot today. and if the administration really wants him, they'd better back him and they'd better back him really fast and furious. >> richard, i thought he showed a great deal of composure. really took the high road when he was being attacked. >> look, there's a lot of personal animus there from john mccain to his old friend. they went out campaigning against each other. look, they may have split on the question of the surge in iraq, but the problem for john mccain is he wa
