inside the store, this all happened at about 1:45 this afternoon, this video taken by a shopper, paul miller, who showed the events inside the store. apparently what man was in there, he used lighter fluid to set the costumes on fire, where they then spread over to the candy section, back to the costumes and put out by the floor personnel as well as alameda county. the suspect is in custody, joining me now is the lieutenant from the san leandro police department. tell us a little bit more about how this went down. >> yeah, like you said it was about 1:45 this afternoon, and a suspicious man was in the store for hours carry iing a bottle o lighter fluid. and at some point he went inside the store and lit the costumes on fire with the lighter fluid. he was quickly stopped by the store personnel and additional personnel started to put out the fire as police arrived on scene and took custody of the person. alameda county personnel arrived and helped put the fire out. >> and you said he was a 40-year-old adult, correct? >> yes, he is a resident of oakland and i don't have any other resident of hi

here to help us break down these numbers is paul miller, a senior banking analyst. give me your take. we were all wondering how this quarter is going to shape up. paul: we were expecting somewhat of a lackluster quarter, because rates fell in this quarter and economic growth is not there to fill that void. what have seen the companies that are embracing -- wells fargo has been able to grow revenues while bank of america and jpmorgan are struggling. jpmorgan's commentary was the most negative. bank of america was ok. we are still waiting on wells fargo. i think the negative commentary is what is bringing down jpmorgan or than anything else. the book value of bank of america grew pretty solidly. with bank ofstay america, we will be hearing from brian moynihan in just a few hours. cost control has been a big issue. are they going to be able to keep their expenses in line? paul: they were flat this quarter. analysts were looking for a continuing decline. there are a lot of noise with these numbers. going forward, analysts are going to be looking forward to continued decl

paul answer that. but i disagree with justice miller. he was very intelligent but definitely a political justice. >> let me answer the question this way, which is, there's a lot that could be said about the slaughterhouse cases and i hope we've conveyed some sense of how important these cases are. because with the 14th amendment you really have a fundamental shift where the constitution is now protecting individuals against state governments and not just the federal governments. it takes a while because of the slaughter howse case to get the full promises tof 14th amendment. but it really is a central case to interpreting that amendment. a lot can be said about the decision proor con. the one thing that could not be stayed about the decision at the time was that it was just a product of politics. because it was a 5-4 decision. but you actually had three republican appointees on both sides. and so i think that actually cautions against interpreting supreme court justices old and new as just sort of political actors or people who are appoi
