i'm the letter si coach at paul revere. i'm here to show support for paul revere staff and our principal. i'm also here to express my concern over the way that our principal and school has been portrayed by some people in recent times. i'm very concerned because we need at paul revere consistent leadership. that is leadership that sheila provides us. losing our principal in the middle of a three-year reform means starting all over again from scratch and potentially losing two years' worth of hard work, effort, and progress on the parts of our parents, teachers, staff members and students. i refuse to dignify the outlandish claims that have been made by the few parents that spoke at this meeting a while ago because they're simply not true and without merit. i have listened to the minority speaker and they want to replace her. but i don't believe they're in an opposition to sheila. i believe this comes from misinformation to the changes that have taken place since she has become principal. these changes were needed and reform

[applause] >> i was compelled to seek employment in san francisco schools primarily because of superintendent garcia's identification of the achievement gap being the civil rights issue of our times. his mission to challenge and to confront that, this was deeply compelling to me. i actually began my career as a teacher 28 years ago as horaceman, a special ed teacher. i was keenly aware of the predictive power of demographics. i had a special education classroom disproportionately full of young men of color and i spent the next 20 years in the classroom trying to advance my teaching practice and become the kind of teacher that can make a true difference. i won't say anything more other than to tell you that i don't believe that the specific allegations that you have been hearing have merit despite numerous investigations, they have been unfounded. however, however, i absolutely believe that the feelings, the parents' feelings behind these allegations have real merit. i have taken their

i'm at paul revere. as leaders and representatives of this district, you all are deeply committed to social justice, equity, and to shattering the bribblings of power demographics. we do not want to be able to predict a student's opportunities in life based on the color of their skin or their income level. speaking to the commitment of those values at paul revere for the first time in over seven years and at least seven years, we met our a.y.p. goals in bong language arts and in math. we note that doesn't matter if students don't feel safe and aren't happy. but it also speaks to the fact that they are safe and happy because students cannot learn, you know, when they aren't safe and happy. we have made a lot of improvements to our school, but parents want more in our school. anyone who cares and they all do. i am so appreciative to all of the input that so many parents have given over the past years, over the past few months and most recently in a survey we sent home in both spanish and english and so far

. >> the reason why i am here is i got involved in paul revere middle school. there is an obvious problem between the parents and the prince of bel -- principal. in the year 2011, the problems that are going at paul revere are happening where we have police reports of kids being tied up in the basement and reports of psychologists that are seeing our children because they have been affected by the principle. we had a demonstration about one month ago. what i am trying to voice here, in this meeting, is that hopefully you will take this matter into consideration because a lot of kids have been affected. i know that as a school board, you have to defend your principals, that is part of your duties. please take a look at what the parents and children are saying is an issue. there is going to be a lot of denial back and forth, but it is a serious issue where, i know a mother who, on a daily basis, she has watched the underwear of for son because there is a policy that they are not allowed to go to the bathroom. on a daily basis, this child comes home with soil and

i have three kids at paul revere. i have the same problem that all the parents have. the principal knows that i am here and i'm coming with other parents to let you know that my kids have been traumatized with all of the punishment that he is receiving. the principal is complaining that we do not go to the meetings, but when we go to the meetings, she does not listen to us and sometimes we want to shake her hand and she does not shake our hands. i would ask that you do something about it to resolve this problem, not just for the parents or the teachers, but for the kids.
