here first on cnbc is paul walsh, the ceo of diageo joins us from london this morning.u with us. good morning. fascinating way the company has positioned itself around the world. you have torrid growth in emerging markets like latin america. well positioned in the u.s. for any improvement here. is the overriding concern still western europe, the periphery there? >> well, i think first of all you're right. we operate in 180 countries around the world. 40% of our sales are coming from the new high growth markets. where we continue to see double digit growth. and we expect that trend to continue. the u.s. is strong. so in aggregate we reported an 11% increase in operating profit and 13% growth in eps. regarding western europe, i think europe is what it is. we shouldn't expect it to change anytime soon. we saw a small contraction in sales but our profits actually increased in europe. we just have to be alert to growth opportunities, to offset what our inevitable structural declines in certain european markets. we believe we can do that. >> all right. sales of spirits, up 12

joining us now from the weather channel is paul walsh. >> and well-known orange juice drinker. >> that'sight. paul, we all start to worry when we start to see some of these potential hurricanes tracking and wondering where they are headed. what do you think in terms of what it means for florida at this point? >> you know, the track is starting to slowly move a bit to the west so we're starting to see it trend towards, more towards the center part of the gulf. florida definitely still under the gun. definitely going to be impacts as people begin to prepare. florida hasn't had a really strong hit in a long time. that's going to have an immediate impact on consumers. usual suspect, home centers, the big box, mass merchandisers will see an influx of traffic as we move into the weekend. but it remains to be seen. we have to watch this one very closely. >> when will we know how bad it will be. what's the timing you expect us to figure that out? >> as we move into the weekend, it will get more clear. track of the storm, again, has been shifting a little bit to the left and the intensity forecas
