joining us right now is paul walsh, weather strategy and business meteorologist for ibm's global business services paul, thank you for being here today. you know, as a meteorologist, you consult with companies and you try to help them navigate weather events, hurricanes and blizzards this storm was something else. what surprised you the most about irma as you were watching it >> well, both irma and the fact that irma came just a week and a half or so after harvey. two of those kind of events, one like that in a year would be amazing. but to have two of them back to back was just -- and this word has been used a lot the last month -- unprecedented the impact, the size of these storms, the fact that they both hit highly populated areas so the odds of that happening seem fairly remote but when you have an active year and when we have more and more people living in areas that are exposed, these are the kind of things that we can probably count on seeing more of over the next 10 or 15 years. >> people are already starting the rebuilding process but is there a permanent impact on a place like f

about florida's preparedness, rafael lemaytray is the former director of public afears for fema and paul walsh with me me in the newsroom, the director for weather strategy at ibm, a meteorologist and expert on how weather and climate affects consumer behavior and business. rafael, we heard about a lot of changes in florida, i'm talking zoning and structural changes after drhurricane andrew. do you think they're ready? >> we listen from every new disaster for sure and there are certain areas in south florida that have updated their building codes, but the truth is right now i think most important thing people need to keep in mind is they need to listen to state and local officials on what to do. governor scott has done a very good job so far providing very clear messaging for folks particularly in evacuation areas to get out. there will be a time to look back after this storm hits on what we should have maybe done better for building and for updating these building codes, but for right now it's really important people get the message they need to prepare now. >> given the lax zoning laws or la

walsh and i caught up with him earlier. it is notjust my responsibility, there is a fantastic line—up. i have the honour of opening the show. i will perform the paul day after the bombing. it was quite a moment that night and people said nice things about it since, andi people said nice things about it since, and i think it will be a nice moment again this evening. it will bea moment again this evening. it will be a bridge between that day in the state, then we can move on with the show. people are seeing this as a bridge, away to remember what happened, but then move forward for the venue and city. tonight is about to 22 people who lost their lives. we are paying respects. we are raising money to create a permanent memorial. we are going to have a good time, as well. that is the spirit of manchester, we need to bounce back from this. how important was at that artists from this area we re was at that artists from this area were here tonight? it is all about ownership, proving what manchester can do when faced with adversity? we have great artist here in manchester and they have all stepped up. it will be a mass of moment when noel gallagher steps
