i want to bring in cnn's paula hancocks with more information. paula, what can you tell us? >> well, just looking through that statement that you referenced just a moment ago just to put this into perspective to give the timings of what happened and what we actually know at this point. so 7:24 a.m. local time just over five hours ago is when the plane lost contact. now we understand from this statement that the air craft was in the indonesian flight information region. at that point you'd assume that indonesian air space. it did take until 7:54 a.m. 24 minutes until they contacted the singapore air traffic control. that's when they were notified. so they were in the indonesian air traffic control earlier. it took 20 minutes before they contacted singapore. now this flight should have taken under two hours. i understand it's about one hour, 50 minutes usually. it's flights northwest from indonesia up to singapore. it should have landed at around about 8:30 a.m. local time. now that's about four hours ago, more than four hours ago. as time goes on there are further concerns ab
