((karen castro)) >> it's been a long afternoon students have been allowed to go home for the day, but the school was on lockdown for most of the afternoon. first responders were called out to the johnson middle school at around 11-30 this morning for reports of a hazardous substance on campus. las vegas fire and rescue received reports that a student brought --what they describe as a "small amount" of mercury to school. we students who were at the gym have been exposed but no one had to be taken to the hospital. there were concerns of the mercury possibly spreading through out the campus. in fact, the environmental protection agency found the substance in the principal's shoes. the epa is doing a sweep of the school and checking out all students. meanwhile, parents anxiously when it happened so you
