emergency workers rushed to paulsboro high school after more than 12 students got sick. the problem started monday after complaints of a strong odor, emergency management was called in to test the air, but today the air quality results had a different reading and emergency management recommended they close down for the day a seal on the tank broke sunday night and an odor quickly filled the air and air tests in the school showed a positive results for napta, a substance they call dangerous. they have fixed the faulty tank which should resolve the issue. >> we'll make the decision tomorrow as we would a snow closing and every family is concerned about the safety of the students and staff and we are always making decisions on what is best for the students. >> parents can't help but be worried. >> i'm not taking her back until it's cleared for good. >> the superintendant tells us that most of the students and teachers that were taken to the hospital have been released and he plans to call each of them tonight individually to make sure they are okay. eva pilgram, channel 6 "

students had to evacuate the school after becoming ill from fumes, the problem was the nearby paulsboro refinery. sara bloomquist is live from the nearby medical center. >> reporter: students and staff members were treated and released and they had walk-ins this afternoon and those people are being evacuated right now, they got sick from an odor described as rotten eggs coming from a refinery located next door to the high school. students and staff smelled a foul odor here all week and this morning some started to feel sick. most kids i saw were putting their heads down and having stomach aches and headaches from the smell. students were transported to the medical center in woodbury and their parents rushed to be with them. >> her nose is burning and she told me she has headaches and is dizzy and doesn't feel well as all and her eyes are burning. >> this school sits adjacent to the refinery and monday morning a vapor leak was detected in a tank something called napka and air quality testing was being done and a refinery spokesperson says at no point were carbons detected. when the stude
