john paulson behind me to your right, mr.resident. >> first let me thank you for your presentation today. president trump, in the last fiscal year, the fiscal deficit under the biden administration was approximately $2 trillion. under the policies you have announced, the deficit would come down from items such as increased revenues from tariffs as well as eliminating the tax incentives for the green new deal. these gains would be mitigated by decreases in revenues from policies such as no tax on tips. overall, what do you estimate will be the impact of the fiscal deficit from your policies? mr. trump: we just hit record highs at numbers nobody ever thought possible. over $2 trillion, nobody thought that was a number that was -- i mean, you could go back four years and nobody thought a number like that could be possible. it is just horrible. we are $2 trillion. people say trade deficits don't matter. i think they matter a lot. i think they matter a lot. we are going to have tremendous growth. what i am talking about is all abo

steve paulson has our forecast. i guess it's warming up though for fall. >> well, that makes sense, right? last week of summer we cool it down. first week of fall does look warmer, and i think the pattern is changing here. we've had three lows going back to august 24th, and we had two coming in the last 5 to 6 days. well, it looks like now a transition time here. big fog bank though it still thinks it's summer. that low cloud deck. everybody says cloudy on the observations here. the low is now in southern california. lots of activity in central california. this year. yesterday just too far south now. but big fog bank. mr. drizzle is in town for friday morning here. coast and bay fog then sun. little warmer. we've been below enough that we'll get near average on a lot of these temps. still a little bit below the coast and bay. all right, so here i heard you say novato tree down. >> yeah. the novato tree down ended up being not causing a big slowdown. but i just want to let you know it's there. they're clearing it up.

steve paulson, he's here.s what we're talking about. >> it was hot yesterday, but i felt like july was a hotter hot than yesterday. does that make sense? >> i agree, i agree. >> now, if you're inland, maybe not. but for me, it felt like july. darn it. man, that's hot yesterday. okay, it's hot, but look at this. i mean, just heard from vincent. he's in the richmond district in san francisco, and he said, what i what i've already been talking about. there's a little bit of an onshore breeze versus an offshore. yesterday was east wind in the city. today it's a little more west southwest. we'll see if it holds. that is a far bigger fog bank than there was nothing yesterday. so i'm led to believe that at least the coast and parts of the bay might come down a little bit inland. now you'll still be 90 to 100. it looks pretty hot inland. that high is going to give us another day along with not only. but the winds. kind of the key on this kind of a pattern here. so lots of thick fog at least in the morning. and then in

steve paulson. >> that starts today and tomorrow.hursday as well because temps are jumping up here. very common first week of september to get a warm up. we've had worse than this, but it's there's not much fog at all. in fact, we're on our way, although we got quite cool this morning. there are a lot of 40s and now we're seeing 50s on the temps. the city finally bumped off 58. now 59. that system right there to the north, which is kicking out as it does. that's allowing the high to build in. and there is a slight east northeasterly breeze, mainly north northeast. so sunny and warmer hanging around today and tomorrow and temps. and they can still jump 70s, 80s, 90s to maybe upper 90s. all right, so here he could go anywhere. but he will begin with the east bay. >> and we do have a bunch of slow traffic there. steve on interstate 8680 highway for the whole thing. let's start with 80 and you will see that it is crowded. has been that way from el sobrante all the way down to the bay bridge toll plaza does get pretty crowded at the toll

. >> my colleague sara eisen talked to paulson. >> rates are 5.25 plus and inflation is down to 2.5% rate. we have almost 3% real interest. i think we have seen enough data and they can start bringing rates down and i would suggest more aggressively would be better. i would be for a 50-basis point cut rather than 25. >> jeremy was on later that day saying the fed is behind the curve. the growing chorus of the fed behind the curve. is there any risk that 25 basis points won't move the markets because people think fed is behind the curve? >> you are spot on. i think it is a non event at 25. if they wait until november and things are fine, the challenge is if we get employment numbers in october that are worse than anticipated. are they in a place to really move up and you are coming in after the election. you can see how they might be anxious if they don't make that happen. >> we will cover everything. fed and equity markets and bond markets. we spoke on friday and the stocks and the interest rate cuts. you saw opportunities in communication services particularly with meta and google.

his treasury secretary could be, i don't know, john paulson, you know?fund guy, but he's a populist republican. i mean, he's talking about, you know, tariffs. john paulson, i think he was on your air and -- liz: yeah. >> the need to use tariffs as a weapon in trade negotiation. so what a we're talking about here is a much more populist gop that a big business is not going to be able to sway this time around. they're going to cut back on immigration which big business loves immigration because they think it increases productivity and pulls inflation down. i mean, go issue by issue. so you've seen a degree of panic, i think, and they're throwing money at it. i mean, he is really close in michigan as well right now. she has till not been able to get above 50, kamala harris, despite a very good debate performance. it's fascinating. and that's why i think you're seeing the money flow in. liz: it is fascinating, so close, this whole time. >> so close, yet so far. by the way, that sounds like a cliche that kamala harris might if say. he's going to be -- liz: he says no, and john paulson, his big finance adviser, was right here in thatd us tariffs will not increase prices. i mean, you worked for many, many years at merrill lynch. you are a business head. you understand how these things work. kind of explain if why you say that they will raise prices. >> because, number one, you've got -- somebody's got to the pay that tax. usually it's the company in the united states that's actually paying that tax that. and then that -- they can decide then how they want to handle that. they don't have to buy those products, and the reason why there's -- if they do, i think if paulson is saying it's not going to have an impact on inflation, he thinks that's going to be a detriment to actually buying those, buying the actual products. the reality is the price is going to go up. they're paying more for it, somebody's going to absorb that price. so if the company pays for it in the united states, they're going to distribute that product if at a higher price to their can customers, than increasing the prices. liz: right. so that looks
