. >> the pawnee fire east of clear lake is now 17 percent contained. good evening i'm julie haener. >> and i'm alex savidge. frank somerville is off tonight. more than 2,000 firefighters are now on the front lines of that fire, and it's making a big different. here's the latest on thisthis developing news tonight. the pawnee fire scorched about 2,000 more acres today, but it's burning to the north and east, away from populated areas. 13,000 acres have burned in all so far, but there is some positive news tonight for all those anxious residents. containment is now up to 17 percent, although 600 structures remain threatened with mandatory evacuations still in effect. >> crews are working hard to cut containment lines before the weather warms up later in the week. debora villalon is live where she's been talking to evacuees about the promising news. news. >> reporter: it takes more than bulldozers, it takes bikers to get through a fire emergency, and on this night, motorcycle clubs rustled up a barbecue dinner for evacuees. >> thank you. >> you're welcome

higher humidity and cooler temperatures helped fire fighters at the pawnee fire. it is breezy if you're going out tonight with cool fog already returning into the bay. on the satellite image you can see the fog at the coast and the low pressure system swinging to the north. it will warm a little starting tomorrow but the sea breeze will keep temperatures down near the coast and bay. highs tomorrow will be in the low to mid 80s inland, 60s and 70s around the bay and 50s and 60s with patchy fog at the coast. air quality will begin to suffer with hazy skies in the afternoon. high pressure will begin to build on friday with offshore wnds becoming gusty friday night into saturday morning. temperatures will friday with triple digits on saturday. cool fog will return on sunday to begin to cool the bay area but it will still be hot inland. much cooler weather is expected next week. week. calfire is updating evacuees on the latest information on the pawn pawnee fire. people want to know what directions it's moving toward, when they can go back to their homes and which homes are destroyed. so far the pawnee fire has destroyed 22 buildings, including some homes. 6,000 homes are under threat. people living in squaw valley and the nearby clearlake oaks community, they are heeding the mandatory evacuation orders. some, however, are staying put for fear of looters and to keep a close eye on animals. >> that's my harley right there and i will ride through the flames to safety if i need to. when that house catches fire is when i will leave. >> reporter: over 250 firefighters from throughout the region, they are helping to get this fire under control. the pawnee fire is one of four large fires burning in northern california right now. and crews are working with a bit of a deadline. temperatures are expected to soar into the triple digits this weekend. residents worry if those flames, if the pawnee fire is not out by then, they fear that things could get a

they sent the strike team ut on sunday to the pawnee fire. there were a lot of folks concerned about their homes and future of their homes at that point. but we do know the alameda county fire tweeted out some pictures from overnight of exactly some of those conditions. now, when you see in these pictures, this is from their instagram account, they had to put out a fully involved structure, what you're seeing there. they were on a rest period and heard sirens next door to their motel and saw the fire and jumped into action. that gives you an idea of the conditions they are seeing out there in lake county. let's get to the videos from the flames from overnight. you see those flames right there on the fire lines in lake county as they battle the pawnee fire. the good news according to california fire, the fire is moving towards an unhabited area and we'll see how things shake out today when you take into consideration the weather conditions in that area. as a result 1500 people have evacuated due to the pawnee fire. many of them going to the mo
