liz: you sold padient to paypal. needless to say, paypal and apple pay are competitors, they really are. >> yes, they are. liz: we had one of the top analysts that apple pay will be a paypal killer. do you agree with that? >> i don't. i don't think there is winner-take-all market. there are 2 to $3 trillion sale at point of sale market in america. this is giant market. this is investor dream. there will be a handful of winders and -- winners and certainly combination of paypal and padien will be powerful one. we think one plus one equals three or four combination. all boats in the harbor will rise with the tide. david: let me just ask a question, an advice question. >> sure. david: for a guy who is involved in payment systems, this might not be, sort of anti-intuitive to you do use cash. you use cash. sometimes you think a card should not be used. when are those times? >> you know, i use cash, honestly, i use cash in cabs. i use cash when i'm traveling in different cities and have a quick cab ride somewhere if i don'

paypal side, everyone has talked about apple pay.e think they're going to have he exponential growth but google wallet and facebook and snap cash and samsung are getting the payment space. on the marketplace side they've had challenges that have been kind of more one-time and focused around their password reset and google analystic changes. we think that marketplace is going to grow slower than the overall e-commerce growth. if you put those two together, our believe is for tech stocks to work they need to gain market share and we think that both of their businesses will lose market share over the next couple years and that's why we downgraded. >> loss of market share for paypal when you see new players coming into the market. are you confident about apple pay? it's had mixed concerns and reviews about fraud? >> couple things. we estimate 20 to 30 million people have active apple pay and in the in a year that number will be over 200 million. exponential usage of that. 18 to 58 retailers, 6 to 150 banks, we think that more importantly

what exactly is affirm or paypal going to do about this?certainly can't speak on behalf of paypal since it's an entirely independent at this point of anything i can do but i very much encourage paypal's new ceo and other ceos in silicon valley to evaluate their relationship with the state of indiana if local bills and laws say it's okay to discriminate. you have to make sure you're protecting your employees and keeping them safe and comfortable. >> did the governor's comments over the weekend about how this is a pushback against government overreach do anything to alter your opinion? >> not particularly. i think the best thing indiana can do and all the other governors and states where these laws are being proposed is to speak very clearly and just clarify the discrimination is not okay. and if that's clearly put throughout, i think a lot of people will feel differently. but if you dither or don't quite say it out loud these kind of lays clearly state that discrimination is welcomed back and that's not okay. >> they say they're working on c

paypal has agreed to pay 7.7 million dollars to settle with u.s. regulators on sanctions violations. a unit of the treasury department announced the civil settlement, saying paypal allowed violations of sanctions against iran, cuba and sudan. paypal said it reported questionable payments that it processed and has taken steps to improve its compliance. comcast says it expects its purchase of time warner cable to close in the middle of the year as opposed to early this year. comcast started regulatory delays as the fcc waits for a ruling in a court case. they are trying to decide whether court cases can be viewed by other parties. the fcc says those documents as art -- those documents are key to assessing the merger. now to the lead -- a big day for facebook as the company holds its developer conference in san francisco. 2500 developers are at fort mason and thousands more are watching online. facebook is opening up its messenger app as a platform to software developers. facebook will support 3-d spherical io in the news and on oculus and it will be
