this is the peak district in between sheffield and derbyshire, right on the border here, where we were 20 centimetres of snow falling. it hasn't quite materialised to be as extreme as that. you can see is a beautiful picture. even on the lower parts of the ground, it was only ten centimetres of snow that had fallen. it made travel difficult for people in the early hours but throughout today, here in the higher areas of the county, we have seen lots of gritters and snow ploughs to keep people on...

good morning, this is the edge of the peak district.heffield and in that direction is chesterfield. it is snowing here this morning, this is part of the areas that was subject to a yellow weather warning for snow and ice much of northern england and northern scotland, northern wales and northern ireland as well. we were told we would see most of the snow on the hills up to 200 millimetres for the regions, even our drive here from north derbyshire and south yorkshire, we came across lots of snow that was up to 100 millimetres deep, even parts of my journey this morning had to be unfit because the side roads, the untreated roads, as much of the country is as well, were very treacherous, you cannot get cars onto the main road from those side roads. many of these roads have been gritted, we have had snowploughs out. early hours of the morning, crews were out, and there would continue to be people out making sure to do they bit to keep people safe. fora sure to do they bit to keep people safe. for a lot of people it will be a case of staying
