police say it starts with telephone call from somebody claiming to be with peco. they then threat tone shut off recipient's utility if the company toss not pay an unpaid bill that day. then asked the customer to load a green dot card with money and then get the card information to the caller as payment. at least half dozens people have been conned out of thousands of dollars so far. east whiteland police tell us they have gotten five reports of the scam in just one week. it is not just scam involving peco, investigators say scammers posed as irs agents as well. >> they should understand it is not really irs calling, it is not electric company calling and that they should before they do anything cat electric company, see if their bill is squared away and certainly they should recall whether they paid their taxes the year before. >> according to east whiteland police one person was taken for 24,000 doll are from a scammer claiming ton with the irs. peco says you should never give any one your bank information over the phone unless you initiate that had call. the ele
