this is where police say the long-time rabbi, barry freundel was essentially peeping on women. we talk to some of the members of the synagogue here. not many are speaking. the 62-year-old rabbi is charged with voyeurism. freundel was seen setting up a camera in the women's shower here at kesher israel. the incident was reported to police by a 35-year-old woman from the synagogue. the police report says the rabbi told the woman that he was installing the camera for ventilation in the shower area. the rabbi was arrested today at his georgetown home just a few blocks from the synagogue. freundel is a prominent rabbi throughout the region. he has been the spiritual leader of the synagogue since 1989. in addition to being a modern orthodox rabbi, he has served as an instructor at the university of maryland, and professor at georgetown law. obviously, the members of the synagogue here, the ones we have been able to speak to say they were surprised by allegations. we spoke to a gentleman in freundel's neighborhood a short time ago who said he had many encounters with the rabbi. all we

rabbi is facing charges of voyeurism accused of peeping at women in showers at synagogue he's led over two decades. >> dr. barry freundel is a modern orthodox rabbi at kesher israel foundation and has taught at university of maryland and georgetown law. our mola lenghi joins us from kesher in georgetown. >> reporter: the rabbi has been the spiritual leader here since 1989 at the synagogue behind me and this is where he is accused of installing video cameras in the women's showers. tuesday night prayer service was a struggle for some at the kesher israel congregation in georgetown after the synagogue's long time leader dr. barry freundel was arrested today charged with voyeurism accused of videotaping people in synagogue showers. >> very disturbing obviously. i don't know the particulars, but to hear that from a rabbi that people trust is very disturbing and concerning. >> my first reaction was i'm glad the synagogue chose to engage law enforcement. >> reporter: according to metropolitan police reports, a 35-year-old woman reported the rabbi to authorities saying she saw him setting up
