joining me now, peggy collins. peggy, good morning to you. what a brutal stretch we have had for unemployment numbers. so give us the big picture here, peggy. where to things stand right now? and do you see any bright spots on the horizon? >> the numbers do keep going up. we saw almost another 3 million yesterday. and one of the bright spots that you're seeing is we're starting to look at the numbers related to continuing claims. so those are people who are not only initially filing for their first week of unemployment benefits, but continue to go file. so those numbers are very high. that might be a sign that some small businesses that have gotten loans may be rehiring people. that is an area we're looking at closely going forward. >> so as small businesses begin to rehire people, as states begin to reopen, getting back to work, folks are able to get up and go to work, possibility that could lower that number, as well. so as we talk about reopening, are there any specific states we are paying attention to? >> california and connecticut. in t

we are joined by bloomberg's peggy collins. how does it change the rhetoric now that coronavirus is coursing through the west wing? it has touched the vice president's office and the president himself at this point. peggy: i think for everyone, the virus has pushed people different ways, and closer it gets to everyone's families, the more people realize how widespread it has really gotten. i think it just brings it home to everyone that, for many of us , we don't have to go too far to see the own effects in our personal lives. vonnie: he has been wanting to return the country to work since before -- sorry, guy. go ahead. carry-on. vonnie: he set easter is the initial deadline, and in friday's report, we saw 2 million, which is still a huge number, say they were permanently laid off, so there's a sensibly 8.5 million just furloughed, but we don't know that. we don't know how money companies can accept people back on the roster. peggy: as you said, that was some of the good news in the friday jobs report, the percentage of people

peggy, as someone who's followed your career with nothing but envy and admiration, i've been so looking forward to talking with you mostly about the differences, just the visual difference, launchpad 39a it took aldrin and collinsto the moon, it's part of the firment of space history. the craft couldn't look more different and be more different, pictures of the interior for anyone who's ever driven a tesla, this is basically a tesla going into space. this is liquid crystal dashboard, none of the old analog instruments that those of us with some years on us are used to, so, peggy, put it into words just how different this is to observe? >> yeah, i didn't get to hear all the question, but i got most of it. >> that's all right. talk about the differences between this and your last ride into space. >> yes, so the dramatic differences, and you're right, it does look like a tesla on the inside and it was a big deal to come up with the special gloves for the touchscreens and you noticed that the guys are holding their fingers on a rail and that's to make sure they can keep their hands steady when the vibrations are going on so they can actually touch what they want to be touching, that was actually they had to look at
