lou pelletier joins me now. >> bottom line is my daughter's life is now at stake.ar that she has been at boston children's hospital, she has been tortured physically and mentally. all of her medical situations have been totally ignored. medicine she was on, treatments that she has been dealing with. she is at her breaking point. and we can't stand by anymore and allow this to happen. >> you, as i said in the introduction, brought her to boston childrens, she had the flu, take her there. she goes into the hospital. and i told the viewers what happened then. how long did it take just in terms of the timing? how long did it take for the state to step in and say you no longer have any decision-making authority with her? >> the world changed, she was there february tenth, february 13th, they came in and said you are no longer allowed to speak to any other doctors. there will be no more diagnosing going on, they just shut everybody out. >> how often does the state of massachusetts permit you to see your daughter? >> officially right now, one hour a week, friday afternoon

a few years ago, then 14-year-old justina pelletier was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease, but laston children's hospital said the symptoms were all in justina's head. the hospital accused her parents of medical abuse, apparently for subjecting her to medical treatments boston general deemed unnecessary. the state then stepped in and managed to get custody of justina. the family is so worried about her health, only allowed to see her once a week under supervision that they are now defying a court order, a gag order and they came on this show last night. her father did. and we learned today even a state police officer showed up today at the family's previously scheduled visit with justina, a state worker demanding to know where justina's father was, because lou was not there today. the question is whether they are now trying to arrest him, possibly for violation of that gag order. joining me now, editor of the boston globe who has been doing unbelievable work on it. and the doctor who is a certified bio-chemical specialist, who specializes in the disease. doctor, let me start with yo

this 15-year-old justina pelletier. she used to be an active, healthy girl. now her parents say she can hardly walk, serious stomach issues, but first got sick and her parents took her to tufts university hospital. doctors started treating her for a rare genetic disorder that her sister also head. the parents said the treatment was making her feel better but when she came down with a bad case of the flu her parents rushed her to boston children's hospital, very well respected hospital. there at children's hospital the doctors tossed her out of her regular treatment and said the other doctors got it run, she does not have a medical disorder. that disorder is mental. that she has a mental illness. when her parents tried to take her back to the regular doctor, the doctors at children's hospital took the parents to court and accuse them of child abuse for giving her medical care instead of mental treatment. the state of massachusetts agreed and took her from her parentss parent locked her in a psychiatric ward. now the facility -- as the battle plays out in court
