[applause] our district attorney, to you, counsel general, to you, and all of the leadership in the room and thank you for your leadership in making this event such a special one. it takes place in the context of a year when president barack obama recognized the leadership of the community by giving the presidential medal of freedom, the highest award given in the country to dolores for her leadership. [applause] and it was just last week that many of us gathered in the mission to have a at home celebration there and at that time we exchanged comp

[applause] speaker pelosi doesn't call me very often, but when she does it's always important. four years ago when i took this job i went to see the speaker. this was number one on her list. how do we get this project done? jackie spear a strong advocate for this project. you have three great champions, and i will also tell you that in working with senator boxer on the transportation bill this project was always at the top of her list. [applause] so i am delighted to be here. i don't know of another place i would rather be, and i know that all of you are so thrilled with the opportunity that this will create. every one of you sitting out there deserves credit. you've all played a role in this in some way or another. this is not about you. it's about the people. it's also about the next generation of transportation for the next generation for san francisco. that's what this is about. this is your vision. it's a clear vision, and so i am delighted, and very proud to announce today $942

(applause) >> and leader pelosi, federal partners working with our local folks here. that's how we get these things done. and then i want to just give a special shout out to dr. colvax who is here. i know he gave such you an incredible dedication when he was the head of the hiv unit while he was here. we're changing stories now that he's at the head of the national office on hiv policy and the national policy office. how wonderful he thinks of san francisco now and he has to go and interact with washington. (applause) >> they probably talk about that in a minute. but everybody that i know that ever has to go to washington, d.c. or any other place, that they came from san francisco. we know what they're doing here. we know we have a strong partnership and it's community-based agencies also that are helping make this connection because our residents and the people with aids wouldn't trust us if we didn't do it the way in which we collaborated so strongly with our neighbors, with our residents and our community-based agencies, with all of the different agencies that are

i watched nancy pelosi used to stand for the buses. here they come, here they go. if she wants to say what's over ground and not working is going to go under ground and going to be working, you representatives have to listen to the people and there are a lot of people that really don't agree with that. but that's on you. i worked at the presidio of san francisco and i am glad you have a witness in mr. [inaudible] who did a wonderful job on the drive. there are many phases to the drive as you understand that's federal property, but now we have a private governmental state type of collaboration to complete that project. at least there, there are bench marks and at least there you can watch the standards. on the central subway, you representatives just don't go with the flow. it's taxpayers' money, even though the representatives may think that they were involved in getting it and that the subject of transportation mr. hood really loves san francisco. it's taxpayers' money. >> thank you very much. >> thank you sir, any other member of the public that would like to spe

i m leader pelosi's district rector in san francisco. i've been with the for about nine years, and we are excited to put on this forum today to help people learn how they can access credit and capital for their small business. click background on some of what was accomplished in the last congress when later closing was speaker of the house. she had had 16 tax cuts signed into law to help small businesses grow and thrive. as we know, during the last 15 years, small businesses account for about 2/3 of the job growth in our country, but when the bush recession hits in 2009, 2010, small businesses were hit particularly hard. small businesses are the center of her agenda. congress under her leadership gave 27 million small businesses tax cuts. two main pieces of legislation -- the small businesses jobs act in the information you have, will create a total of 500,000 jobs and create eight tax cuts. they are all described in the packet you have. also, unleashing up to $300 billion in credit for small businesses to access. there are another eight

[applause] whether it's riverside county, whether it's los angeles, whether it's the central valley, whether it's the san francisco bay area secretary lahood has been responsibl. been available for phone calls. he's listened to the reasons for projects and he has moved ahead. would you give him a big round of applause please. (applause) >> thank you. and i am indeed privileged to be here on many levels. and there's been so much and reminiscing of how we have all gone through the aids epidemic. i am reminded that as a private practitioner back in the '80s and as the president of the san francisco medical society at that time, we took on the fight here in california to bring to the california medical association and ultimately to the nation the san francisco model and how we were going to care for our people here in san francisco. there was not going to be discrimination. there was going to be full access to all care that our citizens and our residents needed here, whatever the problem was. and we were going to fight aids. i've been privileged over these last 20 s

thanks mark, regina , and later pelosi. we have been able to access resources through the sba and the cdfi fund which helps get money to small businesses in this time of need. opportunity fund is not a bank or a government agency. we are an independent nonprofit organization with a mission to provide capital to working people to help them earn, say, and invest in the future. we focus primarily on businesses that are not yet bankable. most of our clients are themselves low or moderate income people or working in low or moderate income neighborhoods. but not exclusively. we will look at any business we think can bring about substantial community benefits. i want to talk about what type of loans we make and whatever products we have. that is important to note that in our case, they mentioned -- i mentioned some acronyms. the service corps of retired executives, women's business centers, renaissance and entrepreneurs should here in san francisco, women's initiative for self-employed -- those organizations offer classes often an
