two weeks ago at the last hearing, prosecutors asked for 18 years in a russian penal colony this is close to the maximum allowable sentence for espionage charges here in russia 20 years is the theoretical maximum, so they may have counted the last 18 months based on statements from the u.s. embassy and the family, it doesn't seem anyone expects any more leniency. the u.s. ambassador slammed the proceedings as not fair or valid and they have not been open to the public or the u.s. embassy at all and so the nature of the charges and the evidence against mr. wheelen are not yet known. mr. wheelen's brother, david, has suggested that he believes his brother may be held up as a trade for one of several high profile russians currently incarcerated in the united states, or even diplomatic property that has been seized by nt years but it's worth noting on that count, however, that neither the u.s. government or the russian government has made similar signals. so far the kremlin has shown no indication that it's prepared to intervene at all back to you, philip. >> matthew, thank you for the update
