what is the peninsula multifaith coalition? >> power coalition is made up of 26 different faith communities that are joined together. we have seven different religions that join us. so jews, christians, buddhists, hindu, baha'i and muslims. obviously there are many different publications from each of those pics >> what do you do? >> we do a lot of community service together. we found out getting to know each other and the education about what different faiths are is a part of our monthly gatherings. we gather that for the first half-hour we are always listening to somebody talk about what their faith reads to them or about a certain belief that they have. or how that prayed together. sometimes we are meeting at different faith houses every month. we are praying with them and learning from them. a lot of times they let us do different celebrations so we get to extend our education with them other times a month. >> wonderful, wonderful. pastor christie, you are one of the founding members of the coalition. what was the deed that

soldiers on the korean peninsula. they need to be prepared always to defend the mission that's been assigned to them. my job, from the department of state, is to give them the diplomacy they deserve. general abrams, our commander of u.s. forces co s korea is to ma sure they are ready. the president has set policy. my view is that, he is fully supported by his advisors and that they have within the parameters of that developed an approach to training our forces that is acceptable. i think we're in a good place. >> i'm going to be going to questions shortly. just one -- i would be remiss if i didn't ask you why, in light of the trump administration's withdrawal from the iran nuclear deal, why would the north -- this goes back to the issue of trust. why would north korea feel comfortable at all in striking an agreement with the united states? >> i'm not an expert on the jcpoa. although -- all of that was negotiated during a period when i wasn't serving if government. i would make an observation as a layman, which is dang

peninsula.hose exercises historically have been done for two reasons. one is deterrence, and the second is to develop the capability of our forces on the korean peninsula to do what they describe as fight with high-level readiness. i am absolutely confident, absolutely confident, having received a message from general abrams on the peninsula yesterday, as the exercise is ongoing in the peninsula, that what we have done with the exercises will allow him to maintain readiness. twoe is to aspects -- aspects to that. number one, the squadron level and below with combined exercises and so forth, there has been no impact. the training of our units hasn't changed at all in the peninsula and number two, in most cases, what we have done is leverage command post exercises and so forth to make sure that staff -- the normal staff orientation takes place. we have high personnel turnover in the summertime in the u.s. and in the republic of korea, -- january, february timeframe has always been designed to make
