we are in the peninsular range. peninsular should really kind of give it away.ular refers to the baja peninsula, which which is part of mexico and really this part of california is much more mexico than it is u.s., and that lizard sort of tells us that. this lizard, like many of the lizards, that we find here in southern san diego county range mostly in mexico and barely enter the united states here. looking at the lizards here gives us yet another reason why this place is so diverse, it's a mixture of what moves up from mexico and what's moving down out of the united states. but more than that it gets us to thinking about how these things actually move. are they migrating from mexico themselves or is something else going on? why are these lizards restricted to just the parts of california that came from mexico? to answer this question and to really think about migration from a totally different mindset, we need to look at an even lowlier creature, one that's not found in the desert. we need to look at salamanders. the salamanders we're after are far above us he

north bay foggy, a few clouds have drifted in towards the monterey peninsular. the heavier cloud deck, some light rain as well. you have business down there or any kind of travel plans, it is muggy and we have some rain cooler inland today, not the 99s and 101s we had yesterday. some of these could drift into santa clara valley, they are coming from southern california and stronger west wind has higher elevations and this system is here and that little low comes in and should take most of this and wills already showing dark and it is already showing signs. southern nevada, 50s and 60s on the lows. 52 in santa rosa, napa at 53 degrees, a stronger delta breeze, today it is increasing and we'll see if it continues with generally more of a westerly breeze, and in tahoe, a not bad 84 and for us we see a cooler pattern and higher fog bank, a little cooler, not as hot, still some #0s -- 90s and the trend will bring inland temperatures down. cooler weather continues thursday into the middle of the week and i think that is it as we go into the weekend. >>> this is the ti
