. >> reporter: good morning, tam, penndot has started their preparations you can expect to see penndot out there today to pretreat the roads. you will see penndot crews at the salt yard in south philadelphia where there are piles of salt at the read. today penndot crews will be across the area brining the roads, a late season snowstorm fast approaching. the city of philadelphia is making their own preparations. they began sunday with limited brining and today will convert their sanitation trucks for plowing once trash collections are complete. the streets department are planning on full deployment, 50,000 tons of salt available to them. crews will switch from salting and plowing snow once the snow accumulates. this north philadelphia shop rite was bustling with customers doing their prestorm stockup. it took 8 stores to find rock salt. >> i'm not going to complain too much, because the winter was not too bad, i'm not looking forward to if we get snow. >> i'm sure she is not alone in the scramble for salt. we'll hear more about the plans for preparations from the city and penndot later

we are at the north street penndot station over here in temple. i want to bring your attention over to my left. you can see the big salt dome over here. see how big the salt pile is inside with that front loader right out front ready to fill those salt trucks as they get ready to go out. originally we were told the crews were getting started about midnight, but we did see three or four trucks around 10:00 this evening, all of them to go out to work on 422. it started snowing here around 8:00 this evening. we had those thick snowflakes around 9:00 tonight, but it seems to be back to a mix of small and big snowflakes. some of them are sticking. on this equipment you can see some of the snow that's been falling the last couple hours. we're about five miles north of downtown reading. here's what you need to know about the lehigh valley penndot tonight. during this storm, penndot will staff more than 200 workers and 29 trucks. they will use those crews for 10 hours. on the expressways, speed is reduced to 45 miles an hour and buses, tractor-trailers an

penndot says it will keep at least two lanes of traffic open during the work.e about two years to finish. >>> speaking of road projects, traffic in the morning, j.b. j. jessica boyington is up and at 'em. >> green every. good time to get up. >> always a good time to get up before the 5:00 hour hits because we don't have a lot of traffic out. construction projects are the ones to worry but we'll get to that in a section. girard avenue, no problems, southbound side looking great. moving from center city to the woodhaven vine and average speeds in the 60s. 95 looks good. over in delaware, construction 495, that southbound ramp is actually closed until the 5:00 mark as well. watch for construction crews in the area. that could be a dangerous situation. again that ramp will be closed. 168 to black horse pike, that is closed. and froot freeway northbound ramp to 295 is also closed. again that will clear in the 5:00 hour as well. maybe a little bit ahead or behind schedule. either way, within the next 15 or 20 minutes or so, you'll see that construction crew out there

another car cam up, looks like to help penndot on the scene. a multi-vehicle accident hit into the barrier almost facing sideways. unclear if there are any injuries. i'm seeing emergency workers converge near the cars, hopefully everybody is okay. i-95 southbound at bridge street. you're starting to jam, 35 minute ride window haven to vine. i-95 northbound here in delaware county, look at this, you see this line of jammed vehicles nobody is moving at this point. really jammed traffic an accident here that sounds serious, as well as you're heading northbound past highland avenue. we have fire crews on the scene. at times one lane is squeezing by. you see the travel time. normally it's easy to get from delaware to the blue route. northbound a 26 minute ride. it will grow with all the emergency workers we have. i-95 northbound coming out of the delaware heading toward the blue route heading past highland avenue dealing with the accident only lane getting by. it's not our own accident on a major highway, northbound on the blue route, it's on the sh

hard to see from this shot but do you see police and penndot on the scene?g the wrong way. an accident with a vehicle facing the wrong way on the vine eastbound just happening right now at 23rd street as you head towards broad street you'll be dealing with this. there is a tow truck on the scene already still trying to get ready to at least tow this out of there. as we look at the big picture you can start to see some slow speeds i-95. we had a bunch of issues here but currently 15 miles an hour southbound near the betsy ross bridge. if you're heading on i-95 northbound you can't get to the walt whitman bridge because of an accident. it's been out there for hours involving a tractor-trailer. that's still a problem. also we're noticing some really slow speeds on the schuylkill. here's 12 miles an hour right now and we've got a new problem in a bad spot. it's on the schuylkill expressway at city avenue and here you can see this disabled truck right here, tractor-trailer disabled. it's on the shoulder but that's westbound at city avenue. just kind of adding to

we can see now it's off to the side but we've got police and penndot on the scene and it's jamming upthe schuylkill. this accident is eastbound past conshohocken so here as you head towards the curve you see how heavy traffic is from past gulph mills to past conshohocken, you're jammed on the schuylkill eastbound and now a 25 minute ride from the blue route to the vine on the schuylkill eastbound. we had a big accident earlier on i-95 in delaware county involving an overturned vehicle. and we could see that accident long gone. your lanes are opened and traffic's moving fine here on i-95 but roads are a little wet. we've got more rain moving in. so you got to be careful out there. looking live on the vine street expressway, starting to slow down a little bit westbound as you head towards the schuylkill expressway. so, watch for that. no construction last night. no construction scheduled all week so that's some better news on the vine and we still have an accident here on the northeast extension. this is in plymouth township montgomery county. you could see the flashing lights. been out
