i'll use pennsylvania. this room was pennsylvania's legislature. pennsylvania decides to write a constitution that's so radical for its day they get rid of the position of governor. they'll not have really a chief executive for pennsylvania anymore. they'll have a fairly democratically run one-house legislature as opposed to the standard two houses that most of the states are going to use, that the united states knows throughout its history. pennsylvania has a very different setup. it proves to be too radical to work. and it's only going to last about 14 years. they'll have to redo it and go to the traditional governor, two houses of legislature setup. but this is the idea in 1776, each of these states is going to start itself over. now the problem is, being all a little bit different, and one of my colleagues loves to talk about that today. we still have differences from state to state as far as speed limits and some of the little rules for driving are going to be different. and so we still have some of those vestiges there. but the problem was in

they have moved from central pennsylvania with loads of lightning into eastern pennsylvania now. and it's actually starting to break up a little bit. as it continues to move to the east. here's the evidence of that. an hour ago, the number of lightning strikes, close to 2,000, just in a 15-minute period, right across this line. and now, about 500, less than a third of the number of lightning strikes in just one hour. so we're seeing this storm break up in many places. there's some of the activity. now, most of the lightning strikes are actually down in maryland now. if anything, they're going to be crossing into northern delaware over the next couple of hours. here's that storm that just went through allentown. it's right over easton at the moment. and it continues to be producing heavy rain. but only for a short period of time. because it's moving so fast. so right over downtown easton, they're getting poured on right now. another little storm in northern bucks county, just south of richland and north of perkesey, producing widespread severe storm damage. getting isolated spots.

the pennsylvania suburbs temperatures currently feel like triple-digit heat. this will be the case thursday through about sunday now. if you look at the sunday at the bottom of your screen, we have days outlined in red. and those are the days with the first alert. very hot and humid. temperatures will be feeling like anywhere from 100 to 110 degrees. and with that, we also expect poor air quality which we typically see when temperatures are this high as well as humidity. right now, 92 degrees in philadelphia. 88 wilmington. 90 in vineland. so it is quite a bit hotter today than it was yesterday. the feels-like temperature when you factor in the humidity, vineland feeling like 101. dover feeling like 109. feeling almost like 100 degrees in philadelphia at the moment. feeling like the mid-90s in wilmington. the heat's going to stay with us for the next several days and into the weekend. and for tonight, we do have these thunderstorms back off to the west. i don't think it's going to provide much of the area with relief from the heat. we will be tracking those, t
