he is now the next senator from the state of pennsylvania for the u.s. he made his name as the mayor of braddock, very small town. a lot of divided response to how good a job he did as the mayor of braddock. there are a lot of shuttered storefronts in braddock and the population dropped dramatically in that town over the course of those years. we are talking about before we announced this, i think we are going to revisit the fact that there was very little public interface of these candidates. he had a stroke, obviously. very evident in this debate. people had been voting for over a month before they ever got a chance to see john fetterman on stage. but after that, there was this rally around support for him, bolster him for everyone in the country was empathetic what they saw that night in the debate. obviously he was struggling with his recovery from his stroke and he has continued to say that he'll continue to get better and he expects that he will be fine by january was one of the things he said. you know, this is the first pickup of the night. a ver

they edged into the lead as democrat, john feldman wins the key senate race of pennsylvania beating celebrity don't have name at all. it's voters have been choosing lawmakers for a 3rd of senate seats and the entire house of representatives. republicans lead the race for the house, but the vote appears closer than poles predicted with republicans hopeful red wave failing to materialize. and let's see what the numbers say, starting with the senate and the seats that are not up for grabs in this election. and now if you add in those newly decided seats, you can see at this point, the democrats with 48 states so far versus 47 with vice president, carla harris able to cost high breaking boats. the republicans would need $51.00 for a majority. and if we look at the house, 162 out of the 435 seats have so far gone to the democrats at 192 to the republicans. but of course, for both chambers, it's still too early to draw any conclusions with razor thin margins. in key races, a full picture may not be available for days if not weeks. let's bring in the w, correspond michelle cook. now in washington, d

in the pennsylvania senate race with about 40% of the vote in, it is too early to call between democrat john fetterman and republican mehmet oz. in the new hampshire, interesting senate race, it is too early to call. maggie hassan, the republican incumbent facing republican donald bolduc. got a little less than 40% of the voting, and it's too early to call in new hampshire. and in arizona, we are looking at too early to call race between mark kelly the democratic incumbent and the republican challenger blake masters. at this hour, the democrats control 40 senate seats, the republicans control 41. 19 are still in play. steve, we've been talking a lot about the overall race for the individual house races. you've got more news for us in that front? >> yeah, why don't we start in ohio. because we talk about ohio's important, couple of different districts for different reasons. can see the senate raising race here with vance, ahead of ryan. just looking at some of the counties where we have all the vote in. the pattern that i am finding so far is that vance seems to be running underneath don

the most expensive contest was pennsylvania's senate race with over $373 million spent, according toate. that is roughly $68 per voter. if that is the cost, next, let's pick out some of the results that are important. starting in florida. the republican ron desantis won the election as governor. republican ron desantis won the election as governor. we have embraced freedom, we have maintained law and order, we have protected the rights of parents, we have respected our taxpayers and we have rejected woke ideology. this mattered for a couple of reasons, ron desantis won by a landslide which if he wants to take on donald trump for the presidential nomination, could give him momentum. second, throughout his campaign he talked about the economy, as did many republicans, exit polling suggests this was a decent calculation, high exit polling suggests this high inflation was decent calculation, high inflation was the number one issue for voters, but crucially, it was not the only issue. but crucially, it was not the only issue. let's turn to pennsylvania because they're in a race for the se
