pentagon correspondent chris lawrence is tracking these developments. he is joining us from los angeles. chris? >> reporter: frederica about a month ago, an iraqi citizen came forward and told the u.s. military about the possible location of captain speicher's grave. and it was in an area very close to where the military had found pieces of his shattered airplane way back in 1993. now the marines went to that part of the desert where another iraqi citizen told them he remembered an american jet crashing and told them he was there when the bedouins found captain speicher's body near the crash site and buried him there. so the u.s. military went out to that site and it took several days over the past week, but they did find captain speicher's remains. they found bone fragments, skeletal fragments, multiple skeletal flagments, actually. and then those were flown to dover air force base where the military medical examiner was able to match his jaw bone with captain speicher's accidental records and that's how they confirmed his positive identification. the
