this is where i lived and commuted to pepperdine here. this is burning and it's close together. in the eaton fire over by pass dina in the mountains and threatening -- pasadena and threatening all the neighborhoods and going for the context is burning and kenneth fire burning in calabashes and burned about a thousand acres and 562 soccer fields and that's bigger than the size of new york's central park and being investigated by arson and they've arrested someone and that case not completely made. suspicion this started by arson. the eaton fires burned about 14,000 acres and it's essentially the size of manhattan and entirety of manhattan on fire and this is at 8% contained and palisades fire where a lot of focus is and 21,000 acres burned and this is almost 70% the size of boston and 15,900 football fields worth of real estate burn in the palisades fire and context going to come to the damage and 135 billion to $150 billion in economic damage so far for this area. it's the largest and worse in the campfire beyond maui and everything and huge economic damage and robert mentioned

all the way to pepperdine. these are like row houses in philadelphia.rally right next to each other. there is a pacific homes they are trying to save where those fire trucks are right now. they are putting a lot of water on it. so close together and the intense radiant heat is catching the two by fours and the structures next to it on fire. again, as we have seen right here, we have lost five houses in just about the last hour along this stretch and another three earlier than that the situation here in southern california is dire. this is probably going to be the most destructive expensive fire in state history. stretch from the palisades and now there is some in pass deanna, altadena, up in that area as well. houses start in the range of 2 to $3 million each. the palisades fire that one grew not just north here in malibu but also grown into santa monica rust that cannon and shah tack quaw road 40 to 50 has firefighters as i came down pch power lines and transformers were up and down the street, along with boulders coming off the side of the bluff here.

this is where pepperdine is, a a place that i lived for four years. to the wealthy, celebrities. and you can see these are -- this is what a typical area of malibu looks like with the homes along pkh, and then the wind -- pch, and then the winding roads work up into the mountains and canyons, and this is what it looks like after. it's basically gone. the red in picture, by the way, we think -- and i'm not 100% certain, but it's the fire retardant that's been dropped on this neighborhood. perhaps a little too late. take a look at pch. i talked about the canyons. this is probably malibu as well. the pacific coast highway runs from santa monica all the way up into northern california, but you have these homes. these are some of the most aspirational homes for many in the country right along the beach, right? you can see now they're all gone. i mean, when you drive along pch, you would only really see homes until there was a gap, you wouldn't see the ocean. now just like in maui, it's so shocking. wow, the ocean's right there now because everything's burn
