i have watched this pepsico tousle from afar.the best performing large capitalization consumer products company i follow and peltz made fortunes. in fact, peltz is the only activist i could find if you bought a stock after it was announced he was involved as a change agent, you still made money and still beat the market. i was hoping there could be a way that was not conflicted. peltz is on the board of a snack rival but get input about the direction pepsico should take. i've always believed he would do whatever is right for shareholders even if she felt splitting the company would bring up more value. i think it is the perfect compromise. gets to hear really grade ideas from johnson who will share some of peltz's views and improved board to work harder to bring out value. it's a win-win. i congratulate the participants for doing what's right for the shareholders who should always win for this great american company. what makes it an suv is what you can get into it. ♪ [container door closing] what makes it an nx is what you can g

>> what we have here is a new director added to the board at pepsico. bill johnson, the former ceo of heinz and company. so heinz -- former heinz ceo bill johnson elected to pepsico's board of directors. what's interesting about this is this was one of the directors that was a recommendation from nelson peltz's fund. you may recall they have been engaged with active discussions with pepsico about splitting up its business although now bill johnson's appointment to the board is seen as somewhat of a victory for both sides here. there are some interesting statements from all parties involved. specifically from pepsico chairman who says bill will bring expertise and insight to the board as we continue to innovate and drive growth. also bill johnson commenting he's ex sided to join pepsico's board of directors and looks forward to working with indra and other directors. even nelson peltz has a statement. nelson nelts saying quote, trian has always believed pepsico has enormous commitment. we're confident bill will be a strong and complementary addition to t

i mean pepsico is another company where al sharpton was put on an advisory board for a number of, forile. and then they were eventually pressured to take him off. tell me more about the pepsi situation, yeah. >> i went to the pepsico annual meeting and complained about this i raised the matter in a private meeting with pepsi's ceo indra knew which before the meeting and next year sharpton was dropped with the african-american advisory board. that was a bump in the road. they continued their support for sharpton. in recent years sharpton's prominence increased not decreased, when barack obama became president it was a great boon for sharpton and aplot of companies thought they were buying access to the white house. melissa: your group is the national legal and policy center and you've been pursuing this for a long time. what has the response been? >> sharpton called us right-wingers and racists and usual things he calls people he doesn't like but i think you know comes down to credibility. sharpton's credibility has now seeped away and there is nothing left. it is time for corporate am
