medical adviser for the bipartisan policy center and former hhs deputy assistant secretary, annan perecd the director of colombia university's national standard for disaster preparedness, dr. irwin redlener. annan, your reaction to this suggestion that seniors across america could be willing to sacrifice their own lives for our economy. >> well, i think, stephanie, in general, i don't think we should be setting arbitrary dates in terms of when we should end social distancing. we should allow the data and the science and the rate of new infections to dictate that. we also shouldn't be pitting senior citizens versus other americans. we are all in this together. this is a virus that can infect all americans. and even young adults, middle-aged americans, as we know, from cdc data, can be hospitalized. they can have severe infections. so we're all in this together. i will say, stephanie, that i think that this focus on social distancing must remain. there are three prongs of the current response, as we know. testing, and we're behind there. the health care -- supporting the health care infra
