it is certainly the next frontier because not only are we seeing perpetrators with the same victim over and over again, we are seeing them with new victims. new partners. new families. we would like to see more tracking of recidivism. i think you will see a little bit of opportunity when we talk about the justice recommendation, which will give the city an opportunity to perhaps flags some of those perpetrators and track the recidivism that way. supervisor mirkarimi: please, is there anything further? supervisor campos: a quick comment on the justice system. what is the status of that? >> i am so glad you asked. supervisor campos: i will be honest with you. i worked on that matter as a deputy city attorney years ago. i advised the city on a piece of the project. it is interesting to see that many years later, we're still talking about when it will be implemented. supervisor mirkarimi: we approved it recently. >> it is approved for its next iteration. i have been one of the community members that attend the government's council meeting for it. i cannot say i am totally thrilled with the

the pilot program, was to recognize that the youth in juvenile hall are victims and perpetrators. they have been victimizes and participated in acts . we wound up going to our providers. we have a positive relationship with the community. whether it's through a contract or not and utilize that relationship and help plan this with us. with the colin strategy. lanny homes called in and called in the relationships with our community providers. we wound up having a call in with the providers. we focussed on youth already there and needed these connections and engagements with service providers. you are sitting in juvenile hall. you are upset about getting blamed and not having enough time with your family, the probation officer. not knowing. but figuring you might get released. you are called in and there are 30 folks sitting there are for you. opening their doors to you with a whole wide array of services that you can latch on to. we have had 3 of these sessions and spend a whole morning and take units by units into the auditorium. and then they are provided with the list of all of t

in some cases by the time the perpetrator gets in, it is too late. thanks to the leadership at the police department, there is now i checked a box available to the 911 operators for women and men to report stalking. that information stays with that particular case throughout the stages of the criminal justice system. of language access we have made strides thanks to the city administrator. there were several reports of victims being unable to communicate with first responders at the scene. some were using the spouses as translators and they themselves got hold off because that spells reported something very differently. there must be ways for police officers to communicate with the victims. we worked with at&t and worked out a donation of cell phones to be connected to language lines that have the capacity of connecting officers to over 170 different languages. currently they have the code to connect victims with an interpreter. the police did not like this method of first. they wanted officers responded -- responding in the language of the victim. o
