a flood warning continues in parts of north and petaluma rohnert park santa rosa and sebastien pulled some of those creek still above flood stage. i'm lauren, speaking of the north bay of the heavy rains are causing some concern for a special children's therapy farm. >> the non-profit forget me. knot pharma serves hundreds of children a year as our conference theresa stasi, a reports flood waters are threatening to main areas at the santa rosa facility. >> the rush is on forget me. knot farm in santa rosa have a boot and is actually our feed room to. so we really need to keep it dry. so the water is seeping in there. now, executive director carol raf men showed me how the most recent storm is pooling water and pushing into critical areas. i'm probably happened overnight because it was dry. yesterday, the children's therapy farm opened up in 1992. rathbun says is the facility for abused and at-risk children has helped thousands over the years, offering them a haven to learn and heal with somewhere and take out there. and she seems love >> brafman says in addition to struggling to stop

this one happened in petaluma. lot of people saw it.t picture there of a a good good does distinct shape for sure. >> all right. well, that recent rain cause a bit of concern for a farm where children go for therapy. the santa rosa farm is called forget me knot farm that organizers say it's a haven relief or abused and at-risk children that helps them bond and deal with the animals that are there. but now floodwaters are threatening to main areas at that facility, putting those animals in the barn at risk. we were able to get at. >> some engineers out here and try and divert that water. and again, because we're in the wetlands, we have to be really careful. our neighbors all have a lot of water to said. it's very specific where you can send that extra water. so we sent to our docks because our decks they love to have the pond and a place to play. but yeah, we've been doing everything we can to just keep the water out of the barn. >> volunteers are also laying out sandbags preparing for the next storm. as you can see there in the video.

this video was taken around 11:00 this morning in two rock west of petaluma, the first time in more than a decade a tornado's touched down in sonoma county. for most of us it was hit or miss showers. so this time lapse video shows a cell moving through oakland this morning, a dark cloud, well, then giving way to a beautiful rainbow and eventually blue skies. then just before we caught this rainbow on our sfo camera, there were reports of thunderstorms and lightning near the terminal. as we look live around the bay area, much different from last night's commute when the rain was really starting to pick up. you'll want to keep that umbrella handy the next few days as we check in with chief meteorologist paul heggen. let's take another look at that video of the tornado in sonoma county. paul, this is pretty rare. you posted that to the newsroom. we all were in shock. was this california? >> i had to check to make sure it was actual video, but the radar matches up. let's point out where we're talking about here in sonoma county. it's west of 101 which runs the length of the petaluma river va

it was taken by an abc seven news viewer who reported a funnel cloud in petaluma. he says it lasted about two minutes, with the funnel passing over some ranches, but he didn't see it do any damage. it was raining at the time, but not windy at all. abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel is here. sandy. it's always fascinating to see these things. we don't get to see them around here very often. what is the national weather service saying about it? >> yeah, so dan, this afternoon i spoke with the national weather service and that looks incredible. i'll just tell you this much. and that does look like a funnel to me. but roger, gas from the weather service said several of them saw this on social media and they had multiple reports of this funnel cloud. but later on this afternoon, when the discussion came out, the weather service says, i quote, there is also an unconfirmed report of a tornado that developed northwest of petaluma earlier this afternoon. we're still investigating, so it is not confirmed, but it sure looks like a funnel to me. when you get cold, unst

you can see some of the action on the radar during that time frame in the petaluma area. once again, kind of moving across 101. so we'll be getting again some more information from the weather service over the next day or so as they try to add some more details and maybe a confirmation on on that report. now, rainfall totals, as you know, we had some very heavy rain kentfield and boulder creek over four inches of rainfall. santa rosa and san francisco over two inches and over an inch for oakland, san jose, concord and in redwood city. so here's the radar. as you can see, just just over the past four hours, it's one of those deals where you might have a dry a break in the rainfall, and then all of a sudden you have a pretty good downpour out there. right now, we still have some lingering rain right around santa rosa and sonoma as we coming closer to portions of marin county, we're still showing you some rain out toward mill valley and san rafael. we still have some coverage closer to san francisco , extending across the bay bridge, out toward oakland, so we still have some

santa rosa, petaluma and novato.e have passed over 2 inches so far and we have more rain right around the corner in the afternoon hours today. here's that system sitting just offshore. the huge area of low pressure basically sucked in moisture from the south. and it drove it right into our california coastline. specifically us here in the bay and i mean if you were to put a vector on it. looked straight at the bay area and said i pick you today. you are going to get the most rain. it's still very active for us this morning all throughout the bay area. if you are waking up and heading out the door within the next 30 minutes or so, keep a close eye on the radar. this is what it's looking like right now. we have light to moderate rain up in the north bay. wet conditions along the peninsula and drier conditions down into the santa clara valley. but that's going to look a lot different heading into this next couple of hours and i'll time that out for you coming up in just a bit. g, how are the roads? >>> thanks jess. let'

novato petaluma. zero visibility up to rohnert park. some thick fog areas that had a yesterday are good to go a little bit out towards stockton. but napa and fairfield, which was socked in yesterday not not today. but boy to the north. yes there's still some there yet. that easterly breeze coming in off the oakland berkeley hills and right along the san mateo coast is making for some blustery conditions. half moon bay, 16 east at 2526. sfo is east at 14. and when you get that, you get warm temps on the coast. i'll say pacifica is 51, montara beach 54. pillar points 55. half moon bay is 52. i should add that bolinas at point reyes and bodega bay are all in the 50s as well, so there's some big spreads in the east wind, and that east wind will make for some mild temperatures. berkeley is 55 with that east wind, so around berkeley, el cerrito, emeryville , uh, albany, you can get some warm temps and that that east northeast breeze coming in off of albany heads right over to golden gate fields and then out to the golden gate bridge. uh, high

this happened around 11:00 this morning, west of petaluma.nadoes are not actually unheard of in the north bay, they are rare. in 2011, a small twister tore up a shed at a santa rosa business. it was in ef-1, it was somewhere between 110 miles an hour. that was today in the south bay. we actually got some hail. willow glen sent in that video to us. parts of southern california really got inundated. >> it is coming in through this door too. standing water all through the office. >> that was a mess left behind on the orange county coastline. it wasn't much better in long beach, people they were wading through waist deep water. jeff talked to a driver that had to save herself when her car basically sunk. >> reporter: of four cars didn't stand a chance with heavy rain flooded west willow street in long beach. >> my car is the one all the way to the right. when she was behind the wheel of her mazda when it became stranded. >> it was crazy, it was storming. >> reporter: she says other dry cars were driving through the standing water, so she took a c

we're sitting in the mid 40s right now with a similar trend for our friends near petaluma and stretching the way up into santa rosa which i know it's kind of hard to see right there but santa rosa at 40 degrees right now and a similar trend near petaluma. now as we take a quick look at what's happening for us as we head into in next couple of days. high pressure is building its way in and that's allowing us to stay dry today and tomorrow. until wednesday, at least. and then once we head into our thursday forecast, a new system moves its way in from the north and that's going to bring in a series of showers and gusty conditions at times and the showers are actually going to last into this weekend's forecast. by saturday, we see that rain slowly start to taper off and it looks like this weekend is going to be split in half. we have our wet day on saturday. our not so wet day on sunday. and then we clear up as we head into early next week. so some big changes around the corner for us but in total the rain system that's moving its way in. the weather prediction center is showing about an inc
