petaluma has had 2/10.o county. actually, you know, davis, vacaville. fairfield had pretty good rain last couple of systems here. and so that's kind of been the theme here. and nothing changes here so far. you know, the trend is your friend i guess. and it's all about about marin county north far less to the south being forecast here i use what's called the gem. it's the canadian model. i think it's really good in the short term, and so far it seems to be spot on to the north, very little to the south. it's just the way it works. fog is an issue for some. livermore. tracy, concord. we mentioned highway four, but i think as this system comes in, that tends to lift the fog. but still, if you're out to the valley, watch out there. and also parts of areas to the east 40s on the temps for most a couple of 30s. livermore 39. but in the mountains now they'll get some snow, but only expected about 2 to 4in after a couple of feet on the weekend. so again, this is not a big system, but it will probably, i would think

mobile 5 just about to get on 101 in petaluma.nd water splashing up. so it's one of the days be extra careful as you hit the freeways this morning and take those on and off ramps and i'm glad we're showing this right now very slow. that's where we get most of our accident reports and spinouts are from people exiting and entering the freeways. virtual reality map right now and talk about traffic conditions and i'm going to zoom in over to that area southbound 101 out of petaluma. out of novato. we are tracking some brake lights there. there's a crash reported south 101 near san antonio and looks like it's bloking lanes and a lot of activity in and around there. pretty slow as you work your way through there. so just be extra careful and looks like traffic is a little backed up in that area because of that. and taking a look at traffic elsewhere, a live look here at the golden gate bridge, we're now seeing that wet weather and those rain drops on our live cam here. so slick surfaces certainly an issue for that ride into san francisc

we're still in petaluma right now. we are on us 101 heading south. now, as you can see, we are seeing some traffic. there is a big backup we're seeing down just ahead of this. just excuse me. just north of san antonio road, there appears to be a crash that is causing this backup. now, we are deep in the morning commute right now, so this is not going to be a good sign for those of you heading south from the north bay in this area. and it's going to take us a little while to get to the city to. but man, the rain did not stop this weekend and the storm definitely hit. now, the big news this weekend, of course, was that rare tornado that slammed scotts valley, just north of santa cruz, and the national weather service calling that twister an ef one, which was still enough to flip cars on their sides. now, tens of thousands of pg and e customers were without power this sunday. now, a large swath of marin county is still facing some power outage issues this morning, per the pg and e website. we'll keep you updated on that as we go now. a flood advisory wa

just a colder spot, getting around 40 in napa. 38 for petaluma. 37 degrees in fairfield. that will be the cold spot for the entire region. everybody else in the low to mid-40s. then we'll warm up in the mid to upper 50s for the north bay. mostly mid-60s east of the oakland hills. low to mid-60s along the coast. temperatures in the santa clara valley, getting up to or above 70 degrees once again tomorrow, right at 70 for the high temperature in san jose, which is an even 10 degrees above average. we are going to keep running into the same category. saturday with some passing clouds, knocking a few degrees off the temperatures, but still above normal. temperatures are staying mostly in the 60s. some of the warmer spots touching 70 degrees. that will be the case into early next week. we'll continue to look for that next chance for rain. i think we'll see a little bit more fog the next couple of mornings. it will be a tranquil weather pattern. some decorating before we get closer to the holidays themselves. but yeah, just zero rain. >> the pleasanton hometown parade is on sat

we mentioned petaluma just a second ago.of the influence of the potential cloud cover. but they won't yield any showers as the sun is going down tomorrow evening. this is the view as of 5:00 p.m. so we're going to stay dry. that's the next sequence of images. light to moderate rain showers for most of us through tomorrow evening. we will go from 10:00 through 3:00 on thursday morning. the rain is going to continue. but again, light to moderate nature of the rainfall means that the flooding threat will be zero. then 3:00 to 8:00, the rain will get out of here before the peak of rush hour will arrive on thursday. still a few lingering showers for the rest of thursday, but those are not going to be too much of a big deal as we would head into the rest of the workweek. we will be tracking the next chance of rain moving in by late friday. first system will drop a quarter to half an inch of rain in the north bay. the amounts will be substantial further and most of central north bay. and we will zoom in to the southern half, a quar

they came in point reyes almost an inch of rain petaluma 79/100. petrified forest three quarters. bodega bay had almost three quarters. sonoma 0.71. saint helena 0.68, napa 0.52. and novato picked up 0.43. but santa rosa with 81/100. that's just overnight now puts them at 2110 for the season going back to july 1st. that is the rain year. i use the rain year, not the water year. now over 242% of average. so the system there is a back edge to it, especially mendocino county, lake county, northern sonoma county, probably northern napa county, as well as the system is now moving more towards eastern solano county, contra costa county, back over towards oakland, berkeley, san francisco, and finally the peninsula. it took a while for this system to get its act together, but it is now moving and it will weaken considerably as it moves south. 40s on the temps to near 50. lots going on across the pacific here. now we'll get a lot of cloud cover, but not really any much in the way of any rain. and it will probably the next system which looks to be on track for saturday. but i'll tell you, i

a christmas tree lot in petaluma flooded after a nearby creek rose above the bank. it flooded the field, causing christmas trees along with bales of hay and hundreds of decorations to just float away. the owner of mickelson, christmas trees tells abc seven that this weekend was their last chance to sell trees this season, but instead they are cleaning up and assessing the damage. we are tracking the power outages across the bay area and central coast tonight, and at the peak of the storm, more than 150,000 customers were without power. here's a look at the current power outages around the bay area. most of the major outages are in alameda, santa clara, and santa cruz, along with marin and monterey counties. there were travel disruptions at san francisco international airport, all because of the weather. there was a temporary ground stop this morning where airport officials say there have been more than 220 delays and five cancellations. meantime, snow is blanketing the streets and highways in the sierra. this is how it looked in truckee this morning. so if you are h

just 54 in petaluma. i think we've reached our high temperatures and temperatures throughout the rest of the afternoon. even with some sunshine seen going to be pretty cool out there. so look at the next couple of hours, 10:00 through 11:00. we're slowly beginning to see this rain and the gusty winds move out of the area. moderate snow in the sierra nevada, and we will be looking at the winds backing off all together overnight. and that's going to bring in the frost into monday morning and tuesday morning. so here's a look at those totals as we end the rain in the next one hour or so. a third of an inch san mateo with about the same in concord and lessen that in the north bay. a lot of that coming down in about five, 6:00 this morning up to the north. so there is a look at the winds that continue to move pretty quickly throughout the afternoon. and by noontime, it's still gusty up in the north bay. but that's that cold, dry wind that's going to take us through the evening. highs today from about 60 degree

and then we head all the way up into the north bay areas like santa rosa, over into petaluma and napa. we're going to see closer to around a quarter of an inch there. the north bay will get hit significantly compared to some of us in our inland areas, but widespread throughout the bay. this is sunday's forecast alone. this is pretty much what we're anticipating right now. about 100th of an inch all the way down into areas like the santa clara valley. and then after sunday, that's when we start to clear up fast. so take a look at what we can expect throughout the next seven days. wet conditions on and off for us as we head into the forecast today and tomorrow. that last splash of showers sweeps throughout all of our communities as we head into sunday morning, clearing up that afternoon. and then we're left with dry skies and just partly cloudy conditions from monday into thursday of next week. that's a perfect forecast to get out there and travel, especially as we get closer to the new year. and if you're thinking about heading up to the sierra, well, there are still concerns, of cours

san rafael, petaluma, san francisco, berkeley three quarters to 86/100.e quarters, sfo two thirds, napa two thirds and los altos 59/100. do you have more, steve? i do, i do the best i can. half moon bay 89/100 ben lomond. santa cruz mountains 86 hayward. good rain 84/100 danville. that's at the danville library. two thirds of an inch. redwood city, over half vallejo, over a half. brentwood 4/10 and san jose. the rain shadow that they are 0.39 now. the front's gone through, but the upper low to the north has not. and that's the key. it's going to come in later today. and i think even into this evening, tonight. any plans for the 49ers game i would take some rain gear. i think rain will pick up later today into tonight. it won't be as heavy as the front, but it doesn't matter if it rains. it's still kind of tough and i would plan on that. a big system looks to be on track for saturday 40s 50s on the temps. i don't think these will change. there's just too much cloud cover, too much moisture in the air. 32 truckee, south lake tahoe and snow will be on the go

also, petaluma and novato just saw a good soaking there.put this a bit further south, look at san francisco, daly city, bruno san bruno mountain area still kind of dry for san jose. so this will pick up overnight. and i want to show you what areas we can expect to see for tomorrow. so we mentioned that high surf advisory right now wave heights 15 to 16ft. by tomorrow we could see some of those reach 20 to 30ft. and then of course i mentioned that flood advisory. and here's what we're looking at right now. so this initially included just parts of the north bay. but now we're seeing san francisco and oakland also included this. we could see an additional maybe half an inch to a little under an inch overnight. but because these areas are already soaked, there could be the possibility of some minor flooding. so we're going to monitor the timing of this in the next couple of hours stretching into friday. and i'll show you how that will bring impacts as well into your weekend forecast coming up in just a few minutes. all right. vianey. thank you.

it's 36 in petaluma with upper 30s by the delta. so that stable air mass allowing for those dry conditions and some radiational cooling to the north bay. a little fog there in santa rosa, 39 in livermore with 40 in concord. so compared to 24 hours ago, we are warmer. san francisco cooler, half moon bay. so keep that in mind. headed out. you know it's cold out there. it'll get pretty mild throughout the afternoon. there's our exploratorium camer, where we're looking at temperatures today to be cooler with the high clouds. and then eventually in the next day or so. this ridge flattening and allowing for more systems to move into northern california. so a few high clouds cooler. we'll see a sunnier sunday and then the rain chances increasing throughout the workweek. still a lot of discrepancies in the forecast models, so not quite sure if we're going to get into that accumulated rain by week's end. here's a look at the high clouds. partly cloudy for the rest of us into your sunday morning. the clouds continue to diminish and so we'll g

let's head to petaluma to talk cheese, and to hear about a celebrity endorsement that has people feeling gouda. from. the hills of west marin are often viewed as a paradise for visitors. they're also a paradise for cows. among these green hills and cows is the family dairy farm, where jill bash and her two sisters, lynn and diana, grew up. not interested in the cows, it took some intervening years of life and adventures before the sisters finally took a shine to those cows, and especially the milk they produce, that drew us all back to the farm in the late 90s to really kind of fulfill our father's dream of making cheese. that dream led the family to launch point reyes farmstead cheese company in 2000. starting with a blue cheese they'd peddle at bay area farmers markets. we, you know, all worked the farmer's markets, you know, sometimes with babies in tow. 25 years of curds and whey later, the company has a second location in petaluma. 100 employees and a whole wide wheel of different cheeses. we bring 6000 gallons of milk four days a week to this plant, which gives us about 6,500 pound

waking up to cloud cover and even a little drizzle up towards petaluma.he ground, but you can see right here some of that moisture trending to the north and then turning to the west. and it's all due to this area of low pressure. the driving mechanism. and this will continue to send up mainly clouds, maybe a sprinkle. and as we go in closer you can see highway one 101, rohnert park and right here around pepper road could see a sprinkle or two. the rest of us, well, we're looking at the cloudy conditions and this moisture to i-5, but basically the cloud cover allowing for highway four and 680 to run into some pretty foggy conditions. it's mild as well, though, with the cloud cover. 53, san francisco, oakland 51, san jose 46, in redwood city. look at that colorful sunrise. 706 is the official sunrise mount tam. there. beautiful view. 42 up in santa rosa. so with the cloud cover that's insulating us, we would be easy. ten degrees colder this morning, maybe more with the clear sky. we do have relatively light winds, but we have that very light offshore flow,

mid to upper 50s at petaluma. napa, fairfield and livermore. concord at 60 degrees.nd let's talk about the cold night coming our way. first the frost advisory. we have both a frost advisory and a freeze warning. but we'll start with this from eight 8:00 tonight to 10 a.m. tomorrow. this frost advisory is in effect for the north bay coastal range, for the san francisco bay shoreline for the east, bay hills and valleys for the peninsula and the santa cruz mountains, and all of the santa clara valley. temperatures down to about 34 degrees can cause frost to form, and of course, that can damage sensitive plants. now we'll overlay the freeze warning covered by this area in purple. that's for the north bay interior mountains and valleys, and for the east santa clara hills. so it's going to be very cold in those areas. some locations may see low temperatures dropping below 30 degrees tonight. in fact, it's likely to drop down to 29 at santa rosa tonight, and it's likely a few other locations that maybe aren't shown on the map here. we'll have 2829 degrees, but most other lo

look at petaluma southeast to 15.county, contra costa county out towards the altamont pass. it's an east or northeast breeze. at livermore, due east, i think it's up to about 13 miles. and there it is, 13. i mean, sfo has a northeast at seven. half moon bay has been north to 21, so that has really cleared things out there 57 degrees. yet others are in the 30s. so there's some big changes. napa airport is reporting again thankfully, but menlo park, mountain view, san jose, they all had fog yesterday. they don't today. so they're in the upper 30s. boulder creek 35, felton 3639. gilroy 39, east san jose, santa clara, campbell and cupertino all in there in the 30s because mainly clear. 14 in truckee, 21 south lake tahoe to 48. arcata to 50 down in los angeles and san diego. we do have clear skies for us for some, so it's cold, but there's more. if you're in that fog. it's tough. changes start tomorrow. first of many, many systems start to knock on the door. they won't happen until probably saturday, but low clouds fog. if

really nice here and 60 degrees right now in petaluma close to it in santa rosa. it's about where we should be this time of year. having said that, we're going to go below where we should be this time of year tonight, especially those inland valleys in the north bay. under that freeze warning, you can see the frost advisory, the area and light blues along the coast. but watch when i zoom out here, you'll see that frost advisory also encompasses pretty much all of the east bay, a good portion of the peninsula into the south bay. and then if you look at the santa clara hills, the eastern santa clara hills there in to the freeze warning as well, that kicks in at 8 o'clock tonight goes through 10:00am on tuesday. and here's why we could see some spots to get to the freezing mark. even a few of those wind sheltered valleys could get below 32. so you see 32 right now in santa rosa. you see 34 in livermore. you see 33 down in morgan hill. that's where some of the colder spots are going to be. but all across the bay area, we're all going to be chilly sunday to give you th

i was 36 petaluma this morning and not just for tonight, but as we roll across next 5 days, these are the inland valley overnight lows you can see are going to pick it up a little bit there, too. and just kind of keep on that slightly warmer trend that we're going to start into tonight. so this is the pattern. high-pressure is keeping the west coast nice and warm and also lots of sunshine. low pressure is in the east coast and that's allowing a lot of that cold air to drop in and notice as we get later into the week, they have another reinforcement of that cold air dropping in. well, as we just kind of hang out here and enjoy the mild weather. so this is the difference right? if you look at fargo, north dakota, 8 degrees that even go over to the east coast. boston right now. 33 degrees. big difference that. it's a las angeles where we're at 63. this is a look at the temperature outlook for next week. and you can see why the east coast gets back to average. we are going to stay above average. so we are in this pattern for a little bit of time and it looks like at least for the next 7 d

the cold spots will be in the north bay. 37 in fairfield and 38 in petaluma. temperatures will end up 5 to 10 degrees above average. similar to today. mid to upper 60s for the north bay. low to mid 60s along the coast and upper 60s down the peninsula and even around or above 70. the santa clara valley 10 degrees above normal. not a lot of change . one cooler day on saturday resulting in passing clouds. it will knock a few degrees off the daytime high temperatures saturday. we will still be above normal. than a hint of rain . if we had a 10 day forecast, there would be a lot of these. the 10 day would also be dry through most of next week. we would keep hunting for that next chance of rain that will eventually had our way. >>> disaster averted yesterday after bystanders jumped in and saved a woman who had driven off a cliff side. the woman drove through an intersection and crashed into another car and reversed her niece on into the water. two bystanders jumped in to save her. she was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. >>> still ahead, a toy drop

the petaluma fire department says the impacts will be minimal between tonight and tomorrow.ld come this weekend. officials want you to be prepared for minor river flooding, coastal flooding and hazardous beach conditions. kron 4 meteorologist kathy trafton joins us now with the latest. she's tracking the storm that's coming. >> yeah, storm starts tonight. is the first in a series of storms that are going to move right across the bay area. >> finally, we get some rainfall. we haven't had raindrop really since about thanksgiving a couple days before. so we're due for some rain. we've been dealing with all kinds of terrible air quality. you can see right here. we have some clouds moving in, but also pretty moderate to lousy air quality. so the good news is the rain will get rid of the bad, bad pollutants and will have rain tonight starting around 10 o'clock moving through tomorrow morning and then lingering through part of the day. so it's a series of storms the most impactful storm rain comes in friday night into saturday and we will definitely see probably a bit of a break on
