the city of petaluma is involved in sonoma county's latest legal battle over the question of who can live at seniors only mobile home park. the press democrat reports the city is suing the operator of the youngstown mobile home park, located on north mcdowell boulevard. the lawsuit seeks to enforce this mobile park's designation as a seniors only residential area of petaluma. there have been similar legal disputes in sonoma county and other parts of the bay area as well. the marin county board of supervisors is expected to vote on declaring a homeless shelter crisis during its meeting today. it would modify the permitting process and allow for faster development of temporary housing. the proposed crisis period would last three years and apply to county owned properties. health advocates rallied in san francisco to preserve funding for hiv research. hundreds of people gathered to stand in solidarity with scientists who are doing life saving work. the rally was held at the yerba buena gardens near moscone center, where a national conference is being held on retroviruses and other infec

and for santa rosa, 62 degrees in petaluma, and for the entire bay area. most of those temperatures, in the upper 50s, beginning the thicker cloud cover, farther to the south, and the proximity of the heart of the storm system, keeping temperatures into the 50s for afternoon highs, which is several degrees below typical for this time of the year. but the good news is the wind should not be as much of a factor. and later tonight, that wind will be dying down. but for right now, 50 miles an hour gusts, that's strong enough to move you on the road, but short of the ratio. and the wind should die down by midnight. some breeze during the atmosphere throughout the day tomorrow, especially closer to the showers. it's not going to be as nearly as strong as the winds we're experiencing right now. in the sierra, they will add up a few more inches of snow. and to almost a foot of snow along and south of u.s. 50 at some of the higher terrain. travel on u.s. 50 and i-80 will be slippery. that's why the advisory continues through 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. the sierra, not

we start in the 30s for most inland communities, mid-30s for petaluma and santa rosa.s 3 or 4 degrees above freezing, so not that cold. temperatures mostly low to mid-40s around the bay and along the coast. despite this cold start we're in for a really nice warm-up, not quite as chilly in the santa clara around or just above 40 degrees in san jose. your temperatures are more likely to get close to 70 by tomorrow afternoon. other inland spots mostly mid- to upper 60s with low to mid-60s around the bay and low 60s around the coast. most of these temperatures are within 5 degrees of what is normal, very similar temperatures for sunday. let's talk about the return of the rain chances, not likely to happen monday or tuesday, but you can see on the ten-day outlook for san jose when rain chances return. the sharp temperature drop corresponds with the wet weather pattern returning. there is an outside chance of a shower monday or tuesday, but i wouldn't worry about it. one system wednesday with lingering showers thursday is likely to be a low end atmospheric river and another

you go farther away from the water and temperatures warm to the low 60s in san rafael and petaluma andnland in the north bay. this is a similar trend for other inland parts of the bay area, mostly mid-60s, where we're supposed to be for the first day of march had, san jose topping out at 66 degrees tomorrow afternoon. everybody will be 5 or 6 degrees below average sunday, as that chance of rain heads our way. let's talk about the timing of that. i'll put some labels on the map here as we bring the radar simulation into view. there's nothing to see tomorrow afternoon. we stay dry for the daylight hours, but there are the first hours hitting the north bay coast as the sun goes down and make their way across the bay area from 7:00 tomorrow evening through 7:00 sunday morning. once the first band of showers moves out, we'll see more off-and-on showers moving across the bay area, but this intermittent pattern is what we'll see saturday night and throughout the day sunday. one more simulation, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. sunday shows the off-and-on shower activity continuing, not an all day

the very warmest spots around fairfield, petaluma, struggling up to 60 degrees because of the naturestem, the bulk of the moisture off to the south, which will be a little bit short in terms of the rain you see and allowing your temperatures to warm up to a greater extent. as we mentioned, this is not the only rain chance headed our way or another one that will move in by monday and tuesday of next week. rain over the next seven days, it will be evenly well distributed and the next one is going to kind of spread that rain out and it is a pretty consistent forecast, anywhere from the rain shattered spots for most locations that is beneficial. we'll be watching a case that does reach the atmospheric river threshold as we head into the beginning of next week. let's take a look at the seven-day forecast and just the whole bay area. breezy conditions we experienced will not last too long, but there will be gusty winds tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening. then we'll start to shake the showers as we warm up on friday, saturday, sunday, inland spots farther into the 60s. coastal location

person was sent to the hospital after a hit-and-run crash involving a suspected drunk driver in petaluma. this was at the intersection of braylon avenue and paron street. the drunk driver fled the scene and was arrested when witnesses recognized him. he was charged with hit-and-run causing injury and threatening an officer. >>> at the same time in san jose a pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on south white road this morning. already it's san jose's fourth fatal pedestrian accident of the year and in redwood city the victim of a hit-and-run crash ended up injuring several people himself while trying to chase the driver that originally hit him, complicated story. police say the victim of the hit-and-run called the police as he was chasing the suspect. then they say the first driver eventually pulled over on king street near a group of pedestrians. that's when investigators say the second driver drove into several people with at least two having to go to the hospital. the man who hit them was arrested. >>> in oakland the city is borrowing a move from berkeley's playbook by using empty
