this is filed by department of justice prosecutors and not robert mueller, pete. what more can you tell us? >> right. she was arrested and lives in washington, d.c. she's accused of secretly acting under the direction of a russian government official joining the nra, hoping to influence american politicians, especially republicans. the charges say she hosted dinners, she attended conventions, she even managed to get her russian handler into the national prayer breakfast last year here in washington. the fbi said she was getting orders from him. he's a former russian legislator and top official of the central bank. her lawyer says she's not a russian agent but she's offered to cooperate, that she testified for eight hours before the senate intelligence committee. but as you point out, these charges are not brought by the mueller team. they were developed by the fbi here in washington. she's had a high profile for the last year or so so she easily came to the attention of the fbi. and as for the timing of these charges, law enforcement officials say she was arrested

>> i've never seen you in a green jumpsuit, pete. joyce vance, let's talk about the likelihood, i mean, this judge is not that predictable. but the fact is, does he have a good argument with a new defense team that there's a ton of material to go through? you know, to avoid a mistrial or some sort of overturning of any kind of decision, should the judge grant this delay? >> well, you're exactly right about the decision point, andrea. judge ellis will have to make a decision about whether starting the trial on wednesday as scheduled would cause some prejudice to mr. manafort that might cause an appellate court down the road to reverse a conviction if the government obtained one. no one wants that to be the result. and the fact that this prosecution team is pushing so hard to go ahead and begin the trial on wednesday tells you that they don't believe that there is any prejudice. i wouldn't expect the defense to agree with them, but the reality is these documents originated with manafort's accountants. he's had access to them. and there

why expend all these energy on pete strzok's text messages? i think he did that here with his reference to mr. bannon. the assumption that the republicans on these committees seem to make is there's some perfectly apolitical set of investigators and prosecutors who could conduct these sorts of investigations. and with all due respect to brennan, most of us have personal believe. they do, as strzok demonstrated he did, leave them at the door when they go to work. as a sitting united states attorney, i both prosecuted democratic individuals and declined to prosecute republican individuals. because i didn't like my personal political beliefs intrude into those decisions. i made them, as do all prosecutors on the basis of the evidence of the law. that's what the republican side of the house seems to be missing on this side of the investigation. >> danny, look, we don't want to argue in any way it's not good for the american people to get a chance to judge for themselves. certainly seems like mr. strzok said he was happy to get out there. he wants
