and get over to chief meteorologist pete bouchard. a new advisory? >> i do, battering the southern bahamas and wobbling, essentially a stall right now and expected to continue to move a little more to the west, and then northwest and due north. and the movement is there, at three miles an hour, still a category 4. and we show the new track, and it is decidedly offshore, far offshore of our islands on the east coast, sparing any portion of the united states. and even our friends in south eastern canada, these are the tracks that bring in monday and tuesday, as it weakens in the colder waters and the national hurricane center's track is of the models that we used to make of 7 news forecast, and our model and the europian model and we can say with confidence it will spare the eastern u.s. and new england. of any ill effect and maybe some wave action and that is about it and an improving weekend forecast. coming up, we will return our coverage of hurricane joaquin with a closer look at some flooding stretching from the bahamas to other parts of the unite

let's check in with pete bouchard and pete, what are we looking at for tonight? >> reporter: couple of downpours going through hingham and cohasset and weymouth then we have another batch going through nashua and up through dunstable and back into dracut. it finishes up with a good round of downpours, maybe even a rumble of thunder out through western mass right now. if you have to check out lightning detection our first stop is on the south shore wet down route 24 and then out at this downpour coming in to wellesley. just a couple of minutes of dry weather before this started to move in and out through framingham and natick to sherborn all the downpours for you headed eastbound. this should at least clip dorchester and all the which to dedham. as far as it getting downtown, i think we'll be on the northern most edge of it. wet again, another round coming through. 68 in boston, heaviest again staying just to the south of the city. 63 right now in worcester. 63 in nashua and 64 in bedford. the wind ease up just to allow these downpours to push through and then the

let's get right to chief meteorologist pete bouchard for more on the forecast . >>> we were three degrees shy of a record in boston this morning and the coldest start in almost three decades and in worcester we tied a record, so this cold doesn't men a whole lot for the winter but it certainly was a chilly start for your monday. morning low of 31. the earliest or last time we were early on that freeze was october 31st in 1988. earliest freeze was october 10 of 1979 so we're right in that neighborhood of even being record setting. but the recovery was somewhat helpful today with the sunshine getting back in the upper 40's. now falling and we should fall sharply here into the 30's over the next couple of hours before we recover and start talking about that warmup. it really comes overnight tonight. our temperatures dive and then recover finding ourselves in mid and upper 40's by morning. the breezes will kick in and stay with us through the night. not as coal in the morning and mostly cloudy sky tomorrow head headed for the 60's which is close to normal for this time of year. we'll take a l
