current colleague, current friend, former mayor, first time i met transportation second retear pete buttigiegwere on a millenial mayor's panel. that was first and last time i was ever called a millenial. been on a few panels since then. very, very blessed and happy to call him a friend. he serves all of us as the 19th secretary of transportation, having been sworn in as secretary in february. he brings our perspective, that of a mayor, to his job as secretary. he was such a leader on our issues as chair of our special task force in advancing manufacturing, he was always involved in the important work of this conference. we are so blessed to have him in this position at this critical time. as the mu point person on so much of the funding being provided under the new infrastructure investment and jobs act. the department of defense is slated to receive about $660 billion in total transportation funding. that's with a b. substantially more than any other sector. he also knows that our state colleagues receive a substantial share of the fund big formula and understand what is that means for us. i
