pete suratos is showing us what a team in alameda is doing to help. >> reporter: in fire zones, so many animal shelters are running out of space. one animal shelter is doing their part to make sure they are getting the help they need. >> we have thousands of displaced animals when these fires start burning in california and throughout the state. >> reporter: he's explaining the impact all fires are happening on animals across the region. most people make sure their pets are safe, some don't get a chance. >> there are probably a few thousands that are displaced may run away from home or get lost and some people when they have to find emergency housing can't take their animals with them so there is a big need for testimony pri temporary boarding. >> reporter: they drove to solano county to take in new strays and provide emergency boarding for pets of vevacuees. >> we hold animals that are already up for adoption, that created stays for the in coming animals and bring those animals down here and get them adopted. >> reporter: all together, alameda relocated more than a dozen pets. the goal

bringing in pete surato. i know we heard from the update tonight that they made some gains today and they feel confident in fighting that fire. what are le creuseting of the success today and the next couple of days will be like? >> reporter: of course they are looking to the shifting winds to the northeast. we are standing here in the west, a little bit of a concern. they're worried for that dry lightning and of course they're saying firefighters have been stretched fairly thin. i know i mentioned in the last report they were anywhere from 72 to 96 hours. some of those firefighters even having their lunch break on the fire line. while they made some progress today. they know these fires and winds are shifting. very important when we talk about the spread of wildfires and containment. they're keeping an eye on thatn tomorrow, there's concerns could be a repeat of what we saw last week. all of this that impacted wildfires and dry lightning last week. now that's something we are looking forward to. >> pete, it

nbc bay area's pete suratos joins us live from windsor with more. pete. >> reporter: that's right, garvin. we have a number of evacuation warnings and evacuation orders in place as a result of the wall bridge fire. in fact, we're standing here in this windsor neighborhood off of windsor river road. this is just under an evacuation warning, but just west of us, there actually is an evacuation order in place. but folks in this neighborhood, despite it being a warning, aren't taking any chances. in fact, here's some video of one man we spoke to. he was packing up earlier. looking on this block now, it looks like he was able to finally pack up and leave. he's leaving to be with some family in the rohnert park area. >> he says he actually moved to this side of windsor after he had to evacuate on the other side of town last year when he was dealing with the kincade fire. now, despite the move to this location, he's once again evacuating. >>i >> i thought this was going to come in october or something like that. this is really early. the weather has been cr
