pete zervakis is live to explain why. here at the waukesha county courthouse workers didn't 10:45 pm last night. the counting continued until midnight. the county clerk said yesterday afternoon that workers were sorting through ballots before they could count them. for instance: they had to look at all absentee voting envelopes and match the total number to a log of absentee votes. but preparations like that stretched on into the night. the wisconsin elections says - starting today - it will try to gather and release daily recount data from all of wi showing any tally changes for voting wards. the agency will get an explanation from local officials for any cases in which 10 or moves are changed in a given, reporting unit. remember: trump's victory here was by about 22-thousand votes. here in waukesha county ... the the clerk says workers will be back at 8 am to get an early start on continuing the recount process. live...pz... wisconsin's votes have to be certified by december 13th.the electoral college meets and sends th

pete zervakis reports. now out of custody, levi ruohonen appeared in street clothes and said very little in court ruohonen waived a preliminary hearing this morning. then entered three not guilty pleas. he's charged intoxicated use of a vehicle... and one of o-w-i causing injury. anyone make any threats or promises force you to waive the hearing? no in a criminal complaint... investigators allege ruohonen was drunk... speeding in a pickup truck on four mile road in caledonia... when he smashed into the back of a sedan stopped and waiting to turn left. inside the vehicle... 39-year old kevin dalley was killed. so was his 9-year old daughter emily. a second daughter - just six - was injured but surviv ruohonen's attorney didn't speak on camera following the hearing. saying only this is a tragic case. ruohonen is due back in court on january 27. in racine county pz tmj4 the six year old who survived the crash is doing okay. there is a memorial fund page to help the family... a mother now left raising two daugh

pete zervakis reports from wauwatosa. you know - the frigid temps - i don't want to take a chance shalissa james and her son - charles - are waiting for the doors to open at whitman middle school. they do so in shalissa's car. she doesn't want charles standing around in the cold. i like to bring him right before school goes in so he won't be standing out here long according to the school district... the doors cold weather. to minimize student time outside. each principal decides weather or not to move students indoors for recess... especially if the temperature or windchill hits -5 degrees. at least some schools are doing that today. regardless... charles says mom made sure he was dressed properly. i have on a warm jacket right here - snow pants, heavy boots and according to first responders... that's critical for coping with the layers - you can always once you get to where youre going - take some layers off and just layer up, handwarmers, mittens or glovesjavon and jaden komar are bundled up also. but they walked to school... how was the walk over? very coldit's terrible to be honest. it

pete zervakis is live to explain. this morning in madison a state assembly commitee will hold a public hearing on the department of transportation's budget request... which right now is about 1-billion dollars more than what the state says it to make the case for more funding towards roads... assembly speaker robin vos released this video. it shows vos riding - in a burlington rescue squad ambulance bouncing along on the streets of racine county. vos's cousin works for the ambulance squad and invited him on the ride. the speaker and other republican leaders in the assembly have called for at least considering an increase in the gas tax to help plug budget. but yesterday... republican state senators duey stroebel and chris kapenga came out strongly against any type of tax increase. they say there are other ways to increase funding towards roads. the governor released a statement coming out strongly against a gas tax increase. saying he and other republicans were elected in 2010 to lower taxes... and they should not bac

pete zervakis is live in waukesha to update the the process of recounting ballots - and reporting the results - has hit the home stretch here in waukesha county. the same is true in milwaukee county... where the clerk says all ballots have now been counted. although according to the wisconsin elections commission... the recount efforts in both waukesha county and waukesha county remain "in process." so perhaps all the votes hasn't officially published the full results. the elections commission says 82 percent of votes across the state had been re-counted as of last night. you may remember that on election night republican donald trump defeated democrat hillary clinton by more than 22- thousand votes. clinton has so far picked up 61 votes. the state is hoping to have the recount done monday night. president-elect donald trump's thank you tour -- is headed to wisconsin. both he and vice- president elect mike pence will stop through west allis at the wisconsin state fairgrounds next tuesday. the event starts at seven. doors open at four. a local group of girl scouts has a lofty goal- try

pete zervakis reports from waukesha. the final votes are being tallied up in waukesha county tabulator that's a high speed tabulator. counting up the remaining presidential ballots at the waukesha county courthouse. tabulatoraccording to the county clerk... it can zip through 5-thousand ballots an hour... sorting and ballots into box compared to the 720 an hour that can be counted by a machine. "a total of 970" the counting should be complete this afternoon. then the board of canvassers has to review - and certify - the results in each of the county's 266 reporting units. we have 51, 52 reporting units that still have to be given a final tally we don't expect any problems there county clerk kathleen novack says the whole effort could be finished la results are then handed off to the wisconsin elections commission for publication. if there's still work left to do after today... workers will return over the weekend. the state has set a monday night deadline for the recount to be finished. they don't want to take any chance

pete zervakis is live to explain why here at the waukesha county courthouse workers didn't start counting ballots until 10:45 pm last night. the counting continued until midnight. the county clerk said yesterday afternoon that count them. for instance: they had to look at all absentee voting envelopes and match the total number to a log of absentee votes. but preparations like that stretched on into the night. the wisconsin elections says - starting today - it will try to gather and release daily recount data from all of wisconsin's 72 counties... showing any tally changes for voting wards. the agency will get an officials for any cases in which 10 or moves are changed in a given, reporting unit. remember: trump's victory here was by about 22-thousand votes. here in waukesha county ... the the clerk says workers will be back at 8 am to get an early start on continuing the recount process. live...pz... tmj4 one wisconsin county is recount... that's menominee countyout of 13-hundred-and- eight votes cast... the recount added 12 votes for gary johnson and another 17 for jill stein. the count
