so, with that, i wanted to introduce peter albert and he will present his powerpoint. thank you. >> thank you, dianne. >> madam president and members of the commission, peter albert from mp a and a little background on the people plan, this document is one of a dozen or about a dozen plans that were required to be prepared or at least agreed to be prepared between the city and the america's cup event authority. clearly transportation was one of the biggest sources of optimism and maybe anxiety about what we could do to make sure that the america cup experience is a positive one for san francisco. >> we have a huge advantage of getting out ahead of this, almost 18 months we have been working on this plan. the original people plan drafted in march, we refined it in september. and now, what we are learning if this needs to be a living document, because the changes to the conditions, the experience that we had in august and how we prepare for this coming week and how we prepare for 2013. these are the things that really shape the plan and make the plan more responsive to t

peter albert and the city are conducting a major study not only our project, but the transit-friendlyatmosphere. our preliminarily parking study shows within a 20 minute walk of the site there are 23,000 parking spaces to put that into perspective for you on a soldout warriors game in oakland the most cars that we park is 5,000. so that is the puzzle that we will solve through this process in making sure transportation works. now before choosing this site, we commissioned some significant research to learn how people would feel about the project. you can see the results of that here. here is what we learned. when we told people what the project was, how it would be funded, and where it would be located. this was what we learned. it's very interesting. you can see on the san francisco side of the bay, with that description and information in hand, 80% of the people support the idea of this project. i think more surprising, perhaps, is the east bay numbers. were given the same information, just about two-thirds of people were enthusiastic in their support of the project. and maybe the t
